Pokémon GO adds Galar Pokémon in new sword and shield event

Pokémon that first appeared in the Galar region of Pokémon Sword and Shield will soon be available in Pokémon GO, Niantic announced.
Newcomers land in the game as part of the app’s latest Ultra Unlock event; Called ‘Part 3: Sword and Shield’, the event will star in the debuts of two Galar Legendaries, Zacian and Zamazenta. As you’ll see in the preview above, new Pokémon are appearing in the game thanks to the mysterious mischief of the mythical Pokémon Hoopa, which also had a starring role in the recent Pokémon GO Fest 2021.
Other Galar Pokémon will appear as well, including Skwovet, Greedent, Wooloo, Dubwool, and Falinks. Shiny Galarian Meowth, Shiny Galarian Farfetch’d, Shiny Galarian Weezing, and Shiny Galarian Stunfisk can also be found, if you’re lucky.
Here’s a rundown of the new Part 3: Sword and Shield event:

From Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10:00 am to Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 8:00 pm local time

- Skwovet and Wooloo will appear more often in the wild! You can also expect to find Galarian Darumaka, Trubbish, and more! If you’re lucky, you might run into Falinks!
- The following Pokémon will hatch from the 7 km eggs: Galarian Meowth, Galarian Ponyta, Galarian Slowpoke, Galarian Farfetch’d, Galarian Zigzagoon, Galarian Darumaka, and Galarian Stunfisk.
- If you’re lucky, you may come across a Shiny Galarian Meowth, Shiny Galarian Farfetch’d, Shiny Galarian Weezing, or Shiny Galarian Stunfisk! See below when some of these Pokémon will appear in raids during the event.
- Complete the event’s exclusive timed investigation for a chance to find Pokémon discovered for the first time in the Galar region!
- Get themed field research tasks from PokéStops. If you complete the field investigation, you may encounter Skwovet, Wooloo, or Falinks.
- Starting Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 3:00 pm PDT (GMT −7), uniforms that appear in the Galar region will be available as avatar items in Pokémon GO. Get the Gym Challenger Uniform avatar for free, worn by Pokémon Trainers who challenge gyms in the Galar region. If you want to show your Dragon-type or Dark-type pride, you can purchase Dragon-type Sports Uniform and Dark-type Sports Uniform avatar items from the shop.
- Starting Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10:00 am local time, exclusive event gift stickers will also be available! Pick them up at the store or by spinning photo discs at PokéStops and gyms.
Additionally, you can expect to challenge different Pokémon in raids during each week of the event.
Week 1 raids
The following Pokémon will appear in raids from Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. to Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
- Galarian Slowpoke, Galarian Farfetch’d, Unown U, and Galarian Zigzagoon will appear in one-star raids. If you’re lucky, you may find a Shiny Galarian Farfetch’d or a Shiny Unown U!
- Weezing, Lapras, and Falinks of Galar will appear in three-star raids. If you are lucky, you may find a brilliant Galarian Weezing!
- Zacian in his Hero form of many battles will appear in five-star raids. You can also keep an eye out for a Raid Hour event with Zacian taking place on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm local time.
- Mega Beedrill will appear in Mega Raids. Mega Evolve Beedrill to gain an advantage against Zacian in his Hero form from many battles!
Week 2 raids
The following Pokémon will appear in raids from Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. to Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
- Galarian Meowth, Galarian Ponyta, Unown U, and Galarian Darumaka will participate in one-star raids.
- Snorlax, Galarian Stunfisk, and Falinks will appear in three-star raids.
- Zamazenta in his hero form from many battles will appear in five-star raids. Be on the lookout for an additional raid hour with Zamazenta taking place on Monday, August 30, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm local time.
- Mega Pidgeot will appear in Mega Raids. Mega Evolve Pidgeot to gain an advantage against Zamazenta in his Hero form from many battles!
