Upcoming Nintendo Switch games and accessories for September and October 2021

Well, we’ve made it through the calmest intervening months of the year and are now on the downhill slope accelerating towards the 2021 holiday and the busiest time on the video game calendar. Switch owners have a lot to look forward to over the next several months – things are starting to heat up, with the return of a fan-favorite franchise and the release of new hardware THE SAME DAY.

We’ve listed some of the upcoming highlights from the big Switch games slated for September and October below. Below these physical releases you’ll also find a selection of other games released beginning in September, usually physical versions of previously digital-only Switch eShop games, plus a selection of Switch accessories and related peripherals available in the coming months.

Sonic Colo (u) rs: Ultimate, a remastering of the Wii exclusive Sonic Colo (u) rs, brings to Switch what is arguably one of the best Sonic 3D games ever. We spent some hands-on time with a version of the game, and you can see our thoughts so far in Alex’s video, but we’re definitely excited to see that one of the best hedgehog games gets a second chance on Switch.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate is available September 7, 2021.

Mario’s greedy nemesis Wario is finally bringing his brand of microgame mayhem to Switch in the form of WarioWare: Get It Together !, the long-awaited Switch entry in the series that now includes a simultaneous 2-player mode and the ability to play. not only as the titular villain, but also as his friends. We have 9 volts!

It’s been too long since we’ve indulged in some manic micro-games, so we’re really looking forward to playing this on September 10.

NBA 2K22 – September 10

We’ve been huge fans of the 2K basketball production on Switch, and while it has been confirmed that NBA 2K22 on Switch will be paired with other older generation consoles and won’t have various features available on the PS5 and Xbox Series S / X releases, yet. We are interested in seeing the next iteration of this premier b-ball series.

This sequel originally came to PS4 in 2018, and we were hoping this could come to Switch from the port of Wrath of the White Witch. Established 100 years since the events of that game, it was announced for the Switch in May in both physical and digital form.

Ni No Kuni II features a Ghibli-like art style that caught everyone’s eye in 2011, and the Switch version, dubbed the Prince’s Edition and released on September 17, also contains The Tale of a Timeless Tome, The Lair of the Lost Lord. and the downloadable content The Adventure Pack.

With content and courses from the first three games from Super Monkey Ball to Switch, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania thrilled many super ape enthusiasts when it was officially announced at E3 2021. It’s coming to Switch soon, so there will definitely be Many. to keep fans busy once the 10th month of the year rolls around …

Metroid Dread, the fifth installment in the 2D Metroid franchise, comes 19 years after Metroid Fusion on the Game Boy Advance, but from what we’ve seen so far, it will be worth the wait and more. Featuring a special edition and two new amiibo released alongside the new game, a joint development between Nintendo and Metroid – Samus Returns developer MercurySteam. – October 8th is shaping up to be red letter day for fans of the galaxy’s greatest bounty hunter.

Oh, and that day the Switch OLED model will also be released. With a beautiful (and larger) OLED screen compared to the other two Switch models, it also has twice the internal memory, a wider and stronger kickstand, ‘improved’ audio of some sort, and a new base to look for. (with a LAN slot) that will make the OLED Switch the premium model, especially for portable players.

Formerly a Wii U exclusive on the Fatal frame franchise (known as Project Zero in Europe), Koei Tecmo’s Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water was one of the few titles that really made use of of the Wii U central asymmetric hack. That, coupled with lukewarm critical reception, made a Switch port seem unlikely – we gave it a 2/10 chance of a Switch port in our roundup of Wii U games that haven’t yet. are on Switch.

However, the franchise has a devoted and loyal fan base, and Koei Tecmo has made the decision to rework the Gamepad elements and bring the game to not only Switch, but other platforms as well. A very welcome surprise!

And finally, just in time for Halloween, we have Mario Party Superstars arriving at the end of October.

Mario Party Superstars, which updates five boards and 100 minigames from the first three Mario Party games on Nintendo 64, is the second entry in the series to grace the Switch after Super Mario Party. While some may call that over the top, these are incredibly popular party games and the minigames and smooth competition they contain make it hard not to have fun when it’s Mario Party time.
