Alice, the wife of best-selling author Alan Wake, disappeared under mysterious circumstances when the couple set foot in their rented cabin in the picturesque town of Bright Falls. What was supposed to be a quiet getaway for the couple has quickly turned into a sinister nightmare, one that Alan Wake has supposedly written to exist. The townspeople act as if they are possessed, with a dark presence pulling the strings, pushing Wake to the brink of insanity. Armed with light, Wake must discover the answers to the dark mystery in which the city is engulfed and live the nightmare to find his wife.
