As you may have seen, the MOBA Pokémon Unite arrives today on mobile devices. Ahead of its release, the game’s producer Masaaki Hoshino has sent a special message on the official site, thanking players for all of their feedback so far and also revealing what to expect in the latest update.

Hoshino has also revealed how the team is working on a new game mode to level the playing field. Here is the full message:

Hello everyone,

Since the launch of Pokémon UNITE on Nintendo Switch ™, the team has enjoyed reading all the experiences our players have had during their adventures on Aeos Island. The topics, the details, the strategies – there’s a lot we’ve even learned about our game by listening to the conversations our players have had. Every comment has been valuable to us, be it a constructive criticism or a compliment. We are proud to have created an experience that has generated so much excitement, especially as we invite a new audience into the world of UNITE with the mobile launch of the game tomorrow.

For both new and returning players, we’re excited to share some of the game updates that tomorrow also brings:

  • Full cross-platform gaming and account linking across mobile devices and Nintendo Switch. Link an account and play with the same account on both platforms.
  • New in-game events where you can get super item upgrades that can upgrade a held item to rank 30. We’ve also made it easier for all Trainers to get item upgrades.
  • New items retained to introduce new strategies.
  • The introduction of Unite squads, which allows coaches to team up with squadmates.
  • A second battle pass, which will feature all-new cosmetic elements, including the new Holowear with special visual effects.
  • The release of some limited spectator mode features.
  • Support for multiple new languages.

We will continue to add more playable Pokémon and make balance adjustments to both Pokémon and maps. Trainers can anticipate new battle passes, themed events, and other engaging content to make Pokémon UNITE even more fun and rewarding. Additionally, we are developing a new game mode designed to level the playing field for all Trainers, regardless of their item ratings.

We are dedicated to making each Unite Battle as fun and engaging as possible, and the changes above represent some of the many ways we are working towards that goal. We look forward to continuing to listen to the reception and feedback from our players as we work with all of you to create an experience that all fans can enjoy. Thank you all for your continued support and interest in Pokémon UNITE.

See you on the island of Aeos, instructors.

Hoshino

Producer, Pokémon UNITE
