Venom: Let There Be Carnage, The Post-Credits Scene Explained

Among the highlights Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), the original nice Poison, and its great sequel, Sony’s third attempt at a Spider-Man universe is off to a good start. But like any great sequel, Poison: Let there be slaughter he has much bigger ambitions for the Sony franchise.

Just before the credits Let there be slaughter prepares a teaser for his own sequel, as it looks like a new symbiote may have arrived on the scene. But the real excitement comes from the mid-credits scene, where the sequel expands Eddie and Venom’s horizons and makes their entire universe a little bigger.

Venom only has a mid-credits scene. There is nothing at the end of the credits, so you can leave once you’ve made it this far.

[Ed. note: This post contains spoilers for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and the … trailer for Morbius: the Living Vampire.]

After saving the world from Carnage, for now, Eddie and Venom take a tropical vacation. When the post-credits scene begins, the two are lying in bed, watching a Spanish-language soap opera that makes Eddie wonder if Venom is hiding things from him or not. Venom explains that he has access to eons of collective knowledge from Symbiote’s hive mind spanning thousands of universes and realities and that Eddie’s mind couldn’t handle it.

In other words, yes, it hides things all the time. But out of good faith, Venom says he will show Eddie just one example.

Just as Venom is getting ready to show Eddie something, the room starts to change and the Symbiote becomes concerned. Their hotel room changes completely, the sky becomes brighter, the whole look of the movie changes, and they are transported to a similar but slightly different hotel room, perhaps even in a parallel universe.

As a brief aside: if we’re making wild guesses, it looks like all of this could be happening at exactly the same time that Dr. Strange casts the spell we see in the trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In this new reality, there is also a new Eddie and Venom show on television, which Marvel devotees will quickly recognize as the post-credits scene from Spider-Man: Far From Home. JK Simmons, who has twice played J. Jonah Jameson in the live-action Spider-Man franchises, reveals that Spider-Man’s true identity is Peter Parker, before showing a photo of Tom Holland in the costume of Spider-Man without his mask.

Neither Eddie nor Venom know exactly what’s going on, but Venom says, “that guy …” before turning off and licking Peter’s TV picture.

This is all a complicated way of saying that it seems that Eddie and Venom have moved from their own reality to the Marvel universe that we have known for 13 years. Iron Man was released for the first time. The only big question is whether or not they will appear in the Spider-Man: No Way Home, which will be released in theaters this December.

Speaking of villains, Michael Keaton’s vulture will appear in the next Sony movie. Morbius: the living vampire, which could mean even more crossovers are on the way. For now, Sony and Marvel have a deal that allows Spidey to live in the MCU, helping to promote Sony’s character and giving Marvel one of its most iconic heroes and stars. Despite this deal, Sony is still the actual holder of the rights to the hero, so he wants to squeeze his Marvel holdings for all they’re worth for the foreseeable future, with tons of Spidey-adjacent movie flicks on the horizon. .
