Raven Software has confirmed that the sixth season of Warzone will be the last on the existing Verdansk map, as the game looks towards the release of its new Pacific-based map.

Season 6 has brought a number of changes to Warzone’s current map, Verdansk, including the WWII bunkers that herald the introduction of Call of Duty: Vanguard later this year. As shared in a tweet from CharlieIntel (below), Raven Software has confirmed that this will be the last time Verdansk is used before it is removed from the game before the next Battle Royale chapter.

For some fans, this will be a relief. While Verdansk has tried to keep things fresh with a number of notable map changes in its time, including a reskin from the 1980s that significantly altered various locations within its landscape, some in the community feel that a little your welcome.

That’s not to say that fans don’t miss out on Verdansk; For a long time, it has been the home of Warzone. However, where hacker issues have led multiple players to Warzone’s alternate game mode, Resurgence, a map change (along with the game’s upcoming anti-cheat) is likely to lead to some of the fans. back to the main Battle Royale mode.

With Verdansk set to stay a bit longer, Raven updated fans on what they can expect to see on the map for the rest of its lifespan. “We wanted to do something special and bring back the original Gulag, with classic showers. Players loved it and we are happy to bring this back for season six,” says Raven. The Warzone Gulag has been redesigned several times since it moved away from its original design to varying degrees of success. Whether or not players’ personal preferences align with the initial concept design, for many fans, a return to the game’s original Gulag is sure to evoke feelings of nostalgia.

That said, a change to the Gulag is not the only one that has been made in season 6. As reported by Charlie Intel, earthquake-causing seismic loads across the map have caused large fissures that tear apart the Verdansk landscape. As a result, large areas of downtown and the stadium have been left in disarray with buildings torn down offering new scenic areas to explore and fight. Ahead of the release of Vanguard, Sledgehammer Games’ latest Call of Duty installment to explore WWII, players will also find several WWII-era bunkers on the map during its final weeks.

With a number of changes to experience in Verdansk and confirmation that the map’s days are numbered, now could be the perfect time to team up and get back in action.
