What are you going to play this weekend? (October 16)

This week we closed with an Animal Crossing Direct stream detailing the final free content coming to the game, as well as paid Happy Home Paradise DLC. The broadcast also confirmed the price and date of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack (not Pass, Pack!). Earlier in the week we also saw Pokémon Blimey for the first time. This is a long title when you have to type it a dozen times a day. And the MetrOLED train keeps moving. Phew!

After all that, it’s time to relax and discuss our weekend game plans. Some mThe Embers of the Nintendo Life team have done exactly that below, so feel free to read our posts and then join yours via our comment section. Enjoy!

I to think I’m near the end of Metroid Dread, so it seems; I have taken my time and I really enjoy it. I also need to get back to Eastward, which is lovely and quite wonderful, while my annual Resident Evil 4 game continues to happily advance.

On non-Nintendo hardware I’ll try to dive into some Back 4 Blood Co-op, I had so much fun starting this week with my brother and a couple of absolutely terrible AI bots. Still, AI is probably preferable to random players, I suspect.

RETURN TO THE MINECRAFT TRAIN. Hopefully I’ll be helping some friends learn Minecraft rules on our shared server and build all kinds of cool structures together!

And when it’s not Minecrafting, I wonder if I should jump back to Animal Crossing: New Horizons … I still haven’t checked if my island made the jump to my new Switch. I’m too scared to know if I lost everything.

Hi there. I’ve gone a bit crazy downloading stuff just to see what it looks like on the OLED switch, so this weekend I’m going to be making a lot of leaps in my old catalog, as well as digging into the Octo expansion of Splatoon 2 for the first time. . . I have Astral Chain downloaded (looks crazy on this new screen), Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey will dust themselves off and I’ll also turn off all the lights and put on my Bluetooth headphones for some – which encompasses the Tetris effect: connected action. I am really enjoying my new toy.

Have a nice weekend, whatever you do or play!

My OLED was a little late so I’m catching up with everyone wobbling across the screen – it’s incredibly hard to get back to the original Switch. This is by no means an essential update, but it does make me go through my library to see what games can really make this sing.

First on the agenda is a second Metroid Dread game. The initial run was done on my launch Switch and while I used the OLED to collect the remaining collectibles, I really want to see the whole game again in this beauty.

I imagine it won’t be an incredibly long session, so it’s probably a good time to dive back into Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I’ve had the game since launch and always end up distracting, but I hope the new screen helps me stay on track, especially since the small font should be more readable on the slightly larger screen.

Hi friends! I have a big wedding to attend this weekend (the best man, right here), so I’m not going to play much. However, once it’s all done, I’ll go back to Metroid Dread and start a new career in hard mode. What game; I can’t believe the quality jump over Samus Returns (which was already great!). It will definitely go down as one of my favorite entries in the series.

Hey, it’s my birthday! I am too old. To no one’s surprise, I keep crawling around Planet ZDR in Metroid Dread. Since the series tends to take a backseat to the most popular releases in the Nintendo franchise, each new game tends to be quite special … and I’m enjoying it immensely despite only a few very short game sessions thus far. I will also go back to my youthful years of F1 fandom with Horizon Chase Turbo – Senna Forever DLC expansion. I think this could be its own standalone game!

The game of the week is Gleylancer. Sure, it only took a few decades to finally have one of the best shmups on the Mega Drive, but at least I didn’t have to sell any body parts to buy it. Both the original and the updated versions are excellent and remind me how much I miss NCS games in general.

As always, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend game plans!
