Here are 7 great details from the Halo Infinite campaign trailer

A new trailer on Monday for Infinite halo showcased a ton of exciting details about 343 Industries’ latest game, which will be released on December 8th. But the overview moves pretty fast too, and it’s easy to miss out on some of the bigger reveals. We’ve gone through the trailer several times to get all the details.

Here are the seven biggest revelations we find in the Infinite halo preview of the campaign overview, which includes car garages, the new Cortana and the Master Chief upgrade systems.

“The Weapon”, also known as the new Cortana

At the beginning of the Infinite halo trailer, we see the Boss holding a purple Cortana in his hand, a throwback to the original AI color for Halo: Combat Evolved, before it turned bluer in its aftermath.

The narration (provided by Jen Taylor, voice of Cortana, and apparently “The Weapon”) mentions that collecting the new AI will be the Chief’s first mission in Infinite halo. From then on, it appears that this new version of Cortana, designed to stop the original, will live inside the Master Chief’s head and fill the player with information, as well as provide feedback.

For those who don’t know, Cortana has passed the age an AI should be, and now suffers from Rampancy, which has essentially turned her evil. This new Cortana appears to be based on Dr. Halsey, just like the original, but it is indeed AI in its infancy. The new Cortana is naive in the face of many of the Master Chief’s threats, and she hasn’t quite adapted to Cortana’s more authoritarian and sarcastic demeanor, because she’s a different AI that will see different things – maybe she never will!

The Master Chief got himself a garage

The Master Chief has had great energy from dad for years, so it’s good that he finally has his own garage. A brief moment in the trailer shows the Master Chief choosing from a selection of vehicles before going on a mission. Overlook on a Mongoose, the first-added two-person motorcycle Halo 3 – and choose a Wasp jet.

A pelican flies up and drops the wasp next to the boss. The Spartan then comes in and we cut him off using the flying vehicle to shoot down an enemy base. Looks like players will be able to unlock vehicles for the orbital drop Infinite halo, But that is not all …

Advanced operating bases

The Halo garage appears to be a feature of the advanced operating bases in Infinite halo. Called FOBs in the map menu, the trailer hovers over FOB Golf for a brief second, long enough for a description:

When controlled, forward operating bases reveal Exiles and UNSC activity in the surrounding region, serve as fast-travel hubs and assembly points for UNSC Marine fire support, and provide access to vehicle downloads. , weapons and weapon variants. Get Value unlocks the resources available in all FOB captured. Defeat the Outcasts and access the control terminal to claim this FOB.

Forward Operating Bases resemble outposts in a Far Cry game. When you enter a new Zeta Halo region, it seems like the first move is to take over the closest FOB, so you can unlock your garage and a host of weapons to use. But FOBs also provide more than that, offering quick rides for Chief and NPC Marines to fill up their Warthog turret.

Enemy bases

While Chief will have to eliminate The Banished, the main enemy faction in the game, from forward operating bases in each area, he will also be able to close down enemy bases to gain what looks like experience points.

For example, the trailer shows Ransom Keep, a Banished base with four silos. The Chief’s mission, if he decides to accept it, is to destroy four of those silos. The game provides a brief overview of the lore of each base, as well as any nearby collectibles.

While we only see one in the trailer’s map shot, it seems like this could be how players fill much of their open world time in Infinite halo.

Experience points and upgrades

Boost Thruster upgrade in Halo Infinite

Each team has special upgrades.

Yes, you read it correctly in the last paragraph: Infinite halo you will get some light RPG elements. However, the updates may not be as substantial as you think. It doesn’t look like you’re going to beef up Chief’s armor or unlock cool fighting moves. These updates have to do with the team.

Master Chief has a variety of equipment at your disposal at Infinite halo, Similar to Halo 3the team or the Halo Reach armor skills. But unlike Infinite haloIt is multiplayer, this team does not run out of uses; The equipment works with a charging system that recharges over time. Chief can also hold and shuffle between multiple different forms of gear, while multiplayer Spartans can only hold one at a time.

We saw Chief use an electrified Grappleshot (the grappling hook) on a Brute earlier in the trailer, then we got a shot of the menu itself. The only ability we can see well in the upgrade menu is the Thruster, a boost that propels Chief forward. It has updates that reduce its cooldown (it’s safe to assume the entire team has an update like this, based on the icon), plus one that adds extra load, and another that adds speed. But the final update, the one the Boss unlocks in the middle of combat in the trailer, hides the Spartan briefly after it is released.

Finally, all the equipment in the trailer has an initial presentation page in the menu that says “equipment purchased”. That raises the question of how players can obtain these items. Will there be some kind of Metroid-style progression system in Infinite, take out tall collectibles players until they have the grappling hook?

Chief unlocks these new upgrades with Spartan Cores, which seem like collectibles in the world. However, it seems likely that Chief will also be able to acquire them through experience points, which we believe will be called “Valor” based on FOB’s description.

Big bosses

One thing Halo has never gotten right is bosses, but it seems like Infinite halo will have several. We see a few different enemy types storming into rooms with fanfare, and we even see a named enemy with a health bar.

But the trailer also introduces us to some interesting NPC villains. There is the new elite who specialize in Spartan hunting; what looks like a very large Promethean woman; and, of course, Escharum, the great Brutus who leads the Outcasts and who currently seems Infinitemain antagonist.

Objectives and missions

Just because you can take over enemy bases doesn’t mean the Boss is going to be stealthy.

Finally, the map gave two more clues about Infinite halostructure of. There is a mention of “Goals” on the bumper map at the top. While there are no details on this, we suspect it could resemble the various cult objectives in modern Assassin’s Creed games, or the old quest menu in Bell, if you want to return things to Halo 3 was.

If you’re unfamiliar with those systems, we’d bet the Target menu could call out enemies with special names around the world that Chief needs to kill, either to complete the game or as a side mission. The Named Brute we mentioned in the bosses section above could easily be one of these targets.

The map also has an A button indicator to view “missions”, which means Infinite haloThe open world will have some sort of structured missions.

These were just some of the details we noticed in Infinite halocampaign trailer. (The Brutes have hair now, so there’s another one!) Microsoft and 343 Industries may not have finished showing off the new Halo, and we should learn more about its mysterious systems, as targets, before its release date on 8. from December.
