Tip 1: follow the shadows
Once you’ve reached Mount Hikami, it’s time to put your senses to work. Hold down the RT key to focus and heighten your senses, allowing you to see a silhouette showing you the way to your next destination. Those silhouettes are called traces, shadows from the past left behind by beings that are no longer part of this world (at least, most of the time). Explorer, watch out! Traces may lead you on the right path, but they cannot protect you against the myriad threats that run through the mountain!
Tip 2: prepare to (not) die
Exorcism is not tourism! Before starting each chapter, make sure you get all the necessary items, from different types of movies to healing items, by exchanging points that you acquired during previous missions. Preparations are a given when you have to face beings ready to return from the dead.
Tip 3: lock and load
A hostile ghost is in front of you. You can damage it by taking pictures with your Camera Obscura. Here are some things to remember when facing a hostile ghost: By holding LT, you can block a ghost that was in the center circle of your camera obscura. While locked, the camera will automatically follow the ghost and keep it in the center of the screen.
Tip 4: ghosts in ruins
After shooting a hostile ghost once, you will notice fragments flying around it. Those are called Spirit Fragments and they are parts of the entity that scattered after your attack. These can be extremely useful for one main reason: Spirit Fragments are considered targets by the camera obscura, and when there are five or more photographic targets in the capture area, the entire capture area turns red. When objects, spirits or other clues are nearby, you will see a white filament on the screen. Go in their direction to find something worth noting. However, be on your guard.
