Criminals stole truckloads of graphics cards

High-performance graphics cards are currently hard to come by, on online marketplaces they are traded for 1000 euros and more – twice as much as intended by the manufacturer. This calls for adventurers and criminals: A US graphics card manufacturer was stolen an entire truckload of the coveted 3D accelerator in order to sell it on eBay and other platforms.

This is reported by “WinFuture”, citing an entry in the official forum of the graphics card manufacturer EVGA. In it, the company describes that a truckload of graphics cards was stolen on the way from San Francisco to a shipping warehouse in southern California. The truck was robbed, and now one is hoping for clues as to the whereabouts of the goods. “These graphics cards are in great demand and have an estimated retail value of US $ 329.99 to US $ 1959.99,” says the post. The prices suggest that these are graphics cards from the popular Geforce RTX 3000 series from Nvidia – right up to the flagship RTX 3090. EVGA has not revealed how many graphics cards the robbers have captured from the fact that the criminals want to turn graphics cards into money quickly: The price level is currently higher than it has been in months, gaming hardware is an extremely popular commodity before Christmas. It is quite possible that the hardware stolen at the end of October has long been available in relevant online marketplaces. EVGA asks graphics card buyers who stumble upon suspicious offers online to report them to the specially set up email address [email protected]. The manufacturer knows the serial numbers of the stolen graphics cards, so buyers of the stolen goods could experience a nasty surprise in the event of any warranty claims or service inquiries.
