Corona fear is part of the Ratzeburg Advent run

Good numbers, bad numbers: The triathlon division of the Ratzeburger SV is delighted with the large number of registrations for the Advent run on November 28th, and the exploding corona infections are looked at with concern. The organization team, headed by Erich Clemens, had already discussed a cancellation, but the 31st edition on the first Advent should now take place.

Last year, the run was canceled at the end of July with a 7-day incidence of 3 – on Wednesday it was 151. “If a new state regulation limited the number of starters to 1000, we would have to cancel the Advent run,” explains spokesman Carsten Wruck: ” Otherwise there is the 3G hygiene concept. The participants would have to state their status in writing on the entry form, and we would also do random checks. That’s why the runners should have their vaccination cards or cell phones with them. ”

200 helpers, 2000 starters

Around 200 helpers will be ready on November 28th. As of Wednesday lunchtime, 687 starters had registered for the almost 10 km long route around the Küchensee (sold out), 290 are for the 5.4 km around the small Küchensee and 1106 want to tackle the almost 26 km long route around the Ratzeburger See.

Mass start on the Ratzeburg market square

Problem: All runners are sent off from the Ratzeburg market square at 11.15 a.m. at the same time: With three mass starts with a total of 2083 participants, it is difficult to keep the distances. “For us it means hope and fear until the end that Corona does not thwart our plans on the home straight,” says Wruck.
