Twitch-Streamer declares that an “inevitable problem” is rolling towards New World

The Twitch streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek is by far the largest Twitch streamer for the MMORPG New World. He now explains what “inevitable” problem will roll towards New World if the number of players remains low. Because the announced merging of servers will bring big problems.

This is shroud:

  • shroud is a veteran on Twitch. He’s been streaming on the platform since 2012. He used to be a professional player in CS: GO for a while, but noticed early on that he enjoyed streaming more. He now has 9.8 million followers – this is the fifth largest channel on Twitch at all. Even after his extremely lucrative interlude on Mixer, the Canadian with Polish roots remains popular.
  • shroud is known as a shooter specialist: his great aiming ability has earned him the nickname “human aimbot”. In addition to shooters, his passion is also MMORPGs, so he loves World of Warcraft and, for some time now, the new MMORPG from Amazon, New World.
  • Shroud is currently by far the largest streamer to New World. It has about 3 times more viewing hours than the runner-up on Twitch.

High player losses and many servers lead to server merges

What kind of problem is New World facing? Amazon has already announced that it will merge servers at New World. Many servers were opened for the release, but due to the free server transfers and the high loss of players since the launch, there are now “dying” servers on which there are no longer enough players to play New World the way it was intended is.

That is why Amazon wants to start merging individual servers: that is, smaller servers will close and merge into larger servers.

If the players have their way, Amazon can’t start merging their servers fast enough. Because they say: New World is simply no longer fun on a dying server. The villages degenerate, you can no longer craft cleverly and the group features are no longer playable.

New World is simply no longer fun without a certain number of players on a server.

On MeinMMO we dealt with the question of whether New World can still be saved:

“Somebody’s always screwed”

This is what shroud says: The Twitch streamer says merging servers will inevitably create big problems. Because the economy on a small server looks very different than on a medium-sized server. On a small server, individual players would dominate the market for certain items, would have no competition, would hoard thousands and thousands of materials.

If you moved such monopolists from small servers to large servers, they would take over immediately.

It doesn’t make sense to combine several small servers with one medium-sized server. It would make more sense to merge all small servers and then one medium-sized server with another medium-sized server.

If you take a handful of small servers and someone has thousands and thousands of materials because they have no competition, they just go to a server with a medium or high population and take over.

However, shroud believes that no matter how you do it, problems will arise:

“There are just too many items. No matter what they do, somebody’s fucked up. “

Still, shroud believes: Amazon has to merge its servers. That is an “inevitable problem”. It is still better to bite the bullet and do it than not to act at all.
