Battlefield 2042 looks set to bring new Christmas skins and players hate them immediately

As of today, December 2nd, the major update 3 of Battlefield 2042 is available. This probably accidentally brought new skins into play. But some players are really pissed off about these new cosmetics. You can find out why this is so here on MeinMMO.

What kind of skins are these? Most of the criticism revolves around the “Father Winter” skin for specialist Boris. With this skin he wears a Christmas coat like Santa Claus.

Fans have jokingly christened this skin “Santa Boris”, but not very benevolently. The “Great Outdoors” skin for Mackay also stands out because it looks like a kind of cowboy.

The skins were probably only inadvertently in the game, because they were quickly removed. They probably belong to the pre-season, which officially has no date, but is mentioned in the skin description. Nevertheless, fans have already been able to take screenshots. (via reddit)

Santa Boris in particular receives a lot of criticism from the fans and makes them downright angry. But why?

Players feel reminded of Fortnite, skins do not match Battlefield

What’s the problem with these skins? Santa Boris in particular is being torn apart by the players. In the subreddit for Battlefield 2042 there are already quite a few shocked voices about this skin.

The critics say that these skins do not fit into a battlefield at all and could rather find their home in other games. One writes of “Fortnite 2042” (via reddit), some even thought Santa Boris was a meme at first.

For many, the skin is a bad joke and many feel confirmed in the assumption that the specialists are only involved in order to make money with cosmetics.

It is not yet exactly clear how the pre-season will run and whether you have to buy the Battle Pass to unlock these skins.

Either way, the new skins are currently not well received by many players, especially with regard to the technical state of the game. Even the big update 3 could not fix all problems and even brought new ones.

Numerous fans think that one should first take care of the bugs and stability of the game rather than adding new skins (via reddit).

Update 3 is the biggest patch so far and brings weekly missions

This is what you can expect with Update 3: The patch revises some areas of the game and also brings new features.

  • There are bug fixes and gameplay changes
  • The update offers “Quality of Life” improvements that should make your gaming experience easier.
  • The UI is adjusted.
  • The portal mode is also rotated again because it has massive problems.

One of the biggest innovations is the weekly missions. In the week after the update, these weekly missions will be unlocked. You will then receive 3 of these every week – and each degree brings you XP. If you pack them all, you will end up with a special cosmetic.

These missions may already be part of the leaked pre-season. But there is still no confirmation.

What do you think of these new skins? Do you agree with the critics? Or do you think that’s not so bad?
