Aerodactyl is difficult to catch in Pokémon GO right now – you can do that
The most important function in Pokémon GO is catching monsters. Now, however, trainers are complaining about a mistake at Aerodactyl. We took a look at what happened and show you how you can still get this Pokémon.
Why is? So that you can collect or fight monsters in Pokémon GO, you have to catch them first. But this is precisely where an error occurs at the moment. So there are increasing reports from trainers on social networks about problems catching Aerodactyl.
What kind of Pokémon is Aerodactyl? Aerodactyl is a rock and flight Pokémon. It comes from the 1st generation and has neither an advance nor a further development.
You get Aerodactyl as a reward in the field research from December 2021 or in its crypto form after a Team GO Rocket fight won. In addition, it mainly spawns in the wild when there is wind and partial cloud cover.
Why is Aerodactyl so difficult to catch?
If you want to catch an Aerodactyl in Pokémon GO, you could face unexpected challenges. The reason for this is an error in the capture mask. Some trainers report problems with this monster on social networks.
On reddit, unscsnip3r explains that he won’t get caught with his Samsung A71 Aerodactyl because the monster flies too high. He initially suspects that it is just a bug in Android and that it has already been fixed in iOS
As you can see in the picture, Aerodactyl actually flies very far at the top of the screen. Cuveball throws in particular are difficult to manage because they often do not fly high enough. And throws in particular become a challenge here.
Who is affected? In the comments, however, it quickly becomes clear that not only Android but also iOS users are affected by this difficulty. Numerous players have already had similar experiences and report about it on reddit (via reddit.com).

Trick to catch Aerodactyl
So that you don’t have to do without catching Aerodactyl, you can use a little trick. As several trainers explain in the comments on reddit, this error apparently only appears in the normal catch mask. So if you switch them to AR mode, Aerodactyl can be caught as usual (via reddit.com).

Why does AR mode help? The fact that catching works better in AR mode is due to the fact that you do not have a clear screen border, as is the case in the normal catch mask. The reason for this is the real environment that is used as the catch background. So if you swivel your cell phone, the background changes accordingly.
If your monster is too high up, you just have to hold your smartphone a little higher and you can catch it as normal. In the regular snap mask, however, the background is fixed and cannot be moved up, down or sideways.
It is not yet known whether and when this catch problem will be resolved by Niantic. As soon as there is official information from Pokémon GO, you will find out here on MeinMMO. Until then, you only have the option of using the AR mode for catching with Aerodactyl.
