Battlefield 2042 outlook: Revolutionary map and smaller battles for PS5 / Xbox Series X / S

Season 1 for Battlefield 2042 is coming in early 2022.

DICE released the third update for Battlefield 2042 last week, and another patch will follow in December. So far, however, only bugs and balancing problems have been fixed. In 2022 there should finally be new content. Season 1 of the online shooter will be launched at the beginning of next year, and the development studio is already giving us a little preview of what to expect.

New content for Battlefield 2042

New map: Little is known about the next map for Battlefield 2042, which will be called Exposure. EA gave opposite Gamespot only on record that she “will take map design to a completely new level”. We can only speculate what that means. Presumably, however, the developers will incorporate the feedback from the community.

Further content: In addition to the map, there should also be new specialists, weapons, vehicles and items. You will be able to unlock most of them with a Battle Pass. Even before the launch, DICE announced that there will be a total of four Battle Passes in the first year of Battlefield 2042, each of which will include a paid Premium Pass.

New game mode: This year, the battles with a limit of 64 players will also be unlocked for the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S current-gen consoles. On the PS4 and Xbox One you are basically limited to the smaller matches. Since there are some negative voices from the Battlefield community when it comes to the huge maps, it is certainly a good thing if we at least have a choice. For the time being, however, the option will only be available for a certain period of time.

In addition, the general gaming experience will also continue to be tinkered with. For example, we can expect the scoreboard to return and more improvements to gameplay and social interactions to follow.

There will also be new content for the portal mode:

More current news about Battlefield 2042:

Battlefield 2042 is just the beginning

It will be exciting to see how Battlefield 2042 plays out over the coming months. EA just announced that it was working on a Battlefield universe, for which the new offshoot is only the starting signal. It is not yet known exactly what the publisher means by this. For one thing, there could be other games with the Battlefield name – for example, there are rumors about a hero shooter. On the other hand, we also expect productions in other media such as films and TV series.

What do you think of the medium and long term plans for Battlefield 2042?
