Rumor: Pokemon Legends Arceus is heading for “survival” and becomes the longest game in the series

Arceus isn't just the namesake of the next offshoot.
Arceus isn’t just the namesake of the next offshoot.

Pokémon legends Arceus will be released for Nintendo Switch on January 28th, but how the title will actually play is still only partially known. Nintendo’s trailers leave a few questions unanswered in terms of gameplay. However, these could now be answered by a leaker. What he has to say actually sounds like a kind of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with Pokémon.

Pokémon Legends Arceus stands out from the series

We’ve known for a while that Pokémon Legends Arceus will contain tactical elements that the main series offshoots lack. For example, there is a crafting system in the game, and we can no longer carry items around with us, but have to manage our supplies. A new leak from well-known insider Riddler Khu confirms that these elements are not just superficial and gives us further insights into the game mechanics of Arceus.

High level of difficulty: The leaker describes Pokémon legends Arceus as a “hardcore experience”. Defeated or captured Pokémon apparently drop resources that you need to produce items – such as Poké Balls. It also plays a role which items you take with you on an excursion, because your inventory is no longer limited to a bottomless pit. In the course of the game, however, you can buy new item slots.

The playing time: Pokémon legends Arceus has, according to the insider, “the longest amount of gameplay” of all the main parts published so far. How many hours you spend with Arceus depends on your playing style, of course, but Riddler Khu assumes that many of us won’t see the credits. To get to the end we need to grind properly and know the bosses’ tricks.

Speaking of credits: The leak also tells us the ultimate goal of the main quest in Pokémon Legends Arceus: We have to catch the legendary and eponymous Pokémon Arceus. But until we can do that, we’ll have to invest a lot of time. Maybe there is also a mechanic like in Breath of the Wild, that we can reach Arceus early in the game, but the Pokémon is way too strong for us.

Attention!: This is not official information. Until Nintendo confirms this or until the game is released and we can try it out for ourselves, we have to treat the statements as rumors.

And of course it remains to be seen how “hardcore” Legends Arceus really turns out in the end. With survival titles á la Don’t Starve, which among other things has a hunger ad, the Open World offshoot is unlikely to be comparable. A higher degree of difficulty compared to other main offshoots would of course be very conceivable.

New forms of well-known Pokémon are also included in Arceus:

Catching Pokémon is no longer optional

Last week, a leaker revealed that Pokémon legends Arceus will take over some elements from Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu. This does not affect the level of difficulty, but the focus on catching Pokémon. Because if you want to penetrate new regions in Arceus, you have to expand your Pokédex. In other parts it is theoretically possible to get everything out of the way with the starter Pokémon.
