New World: 5 things you should do before the release of Patch 1.2

New World brings some changes into the game with the upcoming patch 1.2. The most interesting ones relate to the plaster system and endgame gear in general. We at MeinMMO introduce you to 5 things that you should do before the patch is released.

What are these tips? Basically, the tips relate to the adjustments to the endgame gear from New World. Because patch 1.2 brings some changes here, including the new competencies and the gypsum system. They can already be tested on the PTR.

With these tips you can either prepare yourself to get the most out of these new systems, or at least earn some talers because other players depend on the materials. You also have some specific goals to work towards.

In general, these tips are aimed at level 60 players or players who want to make money trading.

When is the release of patch 1.2? There is no official release date yet. However, it is likely that the update will be released on December 9th or 10th. However, it has to be there by the beginning of next week at the latest, as the winter event will be activated on December 14th.

1. Save or get new orbs for the endgame dungeons and arenas

What’s that tip? To enter dungeons or the boss arenas in New World, you need special “tuning balls”. You can earn this through quests or crafting.

With the new patch 1.2, however, it is worthwhile to visit exactly this content. Because the two dungeons Lazarus-Instrumentarium and Garden of Origin will give you additional skills when defeating the final boss. You need this competence for better loot through drops.

You will also get sapphire plaster in the two dungeons. There is another plaster of paris, the citrine plaster, for closing boss arenas.

In the future, you can earn competence and plaster of paris in the Lazarus Instrumentarium and Garden of Origin dungeons.

How do you get the tuning balls? You can get the tuning balls for the dungeons either through crafting or through certain quests, if you have not yet completed them:

  • For the Lazarus instrumentality these are the quests “Secrets of the Guardians” in the Bruchberg area at NPC Leyson Reese and the quest “Secrets that are better kept to yourself”. This is a quest series consisting of six tasks in the brackish water area, at the end of which an orb is waiting for you.
  • For the Garden of Recovery these are the quests “Rot resistance”, a longer quest series in Bruchberg, and “Contaminated Wandering”, also a longer quest series in Edenhain.
  • You can earn a total of four free orbs through these four quest lines.

The tuning balls for the arenas are also available from crafting.

2. Farmt that Continued Portale

What’s that tip? The Corrupted Portals are an important asset for farming the materials you need to craft Dungeon Mood Orbs.

So if you see a group in chat that is currently farming portal events, you should join this group. Because even if you don’t want to make balls, you can probably sell the farmed materials more expensively in the future.

If you want to earn money with this tip, you can also speculate on buying the materials that are needed for the various tuning balls and then selling them at a higher price later.

3. Levels one of the occupations to 200 (fishing is best!)

What’s that tip? In future you will get emerald plaster through crafting. For this you need any profession to 200 and then you have to “level” it beyond 200. In theory, this can be done infinitely often and brings rewards in three steps. With a little luck, plaster of paris is available from reward level 3.

Experience points Crafting New World
Beyond level 200, there are now new rewards in crafting.

Which professions are worthwhile? The fastest and most economical way to collect XP is in the collecting professions such as woodcutting, skinning or mining. Reward chests for crafting trades such as armourer will mostly turn out to be money for money.

However, especially at the start of the update, the collection spots in harvesting or rare wood will be very competitive. That is why fishing seems to be the most lucrative occupation for farming Smargad plaster at the moment.

If you have not yet leveled fishing, you should use the time now.

4. Buy or farm magical creatures

What’s that tip? Topaz plaster can be obtained by drinking a special potion and then defeating level 55+ mobs. This potion can be made once a day and costs some magical creatures.

And it is precisely through these magical creatures that you can either make money or you can save yourself money by buying them now or starting to farm.

What kind of creatures are they? To make the potion you need seven creatures, each of which you mix into the potion five times:

  • Armored tail
  • Salamanderschleim
  • Blitzkäfer
  • Life moth eyes
  • Spinefish fins
  • Soul Wyrm Tongue
  • Rotten Moth Dust

5. Grind up your old style watermark now

What’s that tip? The gypsum system is introduced with patch 1.2. However, this is accompanied by a weakening of the previous farming methods to increase the watermark.

In the past, the watermarks rose more sharply, especially at the beginning. This table of reddit user kaptainkeel shows the exact values:

Watermark Chance on
increase
Chances increase
500 3 % 0,25 %
510 2 % 0,225 %
525 1,75 % 0,1875 %
550 1,5 % 0,125 %
575 1 % 0,06 %
590 1 % 0,025 %

With the new update, however, there is an adjustment:

  • At each level the chance of an increase is 1%
  • The increase due to a drop is always 0.1%

The situation improves slightly for drops of level 575 or higher, but it becomes more complex for the grind up to level 575. It can therefore be worthwhile to farm the levels up to 550 in advance.

Bonus: Get legendary materials through crafting

What’s that tip? In tip 3, we already pointed out the new rewards in crafting if you level above level 200. For the manufacturing professions such as armorer or armorer, you can look forward to the fact that with a little luck you will get legendary crafting materials that are otherwise very rare.

Therefore two tips:

  • On the one hand, it can be worthwhile to level occupations to 200 in order to get these rewards
  • On the other hand, this increases your chances of actually making a legendary weapon later using crafting. So it makes sense to farm other legendary materials in advance.
