Pokémon GO brings special attacks to the Johto Tour – 3 powerful attacks that trainers want

The Johto Tour takes place in Pokémon GO in February. In addition to numerous monsters and bonuses, you can also look forward to special attacks. We at MeinMMO have looked at which attacks the coaches suspect and which they would like.

What is the Johto Tour? At the end of February there will be an event in Pokémon GO around the Johto region. This is known as the Johto tour. On the evening of December 7th, Niantic published the first information about this. So you can look forward to numerous Pokémon and bonuses at this event.

In addition, Niantic announced further details on the event page of the Johto Tour, which among other things also promise special attacks for individual monsters (via pokemongolive.com). This is causing some speculation in the reddit community.

Special attacks on the Johto tour

Which monsters will get special attacks? Even if you can encounter all monsters in this region during the Johto Tour, only some of these Pokémon will receive a special attack. With Meganie, Tornupto, Impergator, Despotar, Nachtara, Psiana and Mamutel you can look forward to their typical event attacks of the past Community Days.

With a view to these corresponding C-Days, the monsters mentioned are likely to get the following attacks on the Johto tour:

Pokémon Event-Attacke C-Day
Meganie Flora-Statue
Tornupto Lohekanonade
Emperor Aquahaubitze
Despot catapult
Night macaw Psychokinesis
Psiana Spukball
mammoth Antique Power

But those were not all monsters that will get a special attack for this event. The two legendary Pokémon of the Johto region Lugia and Ho-Oh as well as the mysterious Pokémon Celebi are also equipped with a special attack. Which one it will be, however, is not yet known.

Wishes from the community at Ho-Oh and Lugia

Even if the event attacks for Lugia and Ho-Oh are not yet known, the trainers of the reddit community are already wondering which attacks could be.

For example, Teban54 suspects in his reddit post that Ho-Oh could get the ringing fire attack and Lugia could get the air blast attack (via reddit.com). The background for his assumption is that the attacks Läuterfeuer and Zauberblatt only recently appeared in the game code.

Other trainers are also convinced of this choice of attacks in the comments and write:

  • JRE47: “The thumbs are pressed for pealing fire” (via reddit.com)
  • krispyboiz: “I am confident that we will get ringing fires sometime this season.” (via reddit.com)

What kind of attack is that? In the comments, however, many trainers also ask what kind of attack a ringing fire is and how strong it will be.

As Teban54 explains himself in the comments, chime fire is an attack by Ho-Oh from the games in the main series (via reddit.com). However, this attack is not yet available in Pokémon GO, which is why it is not yet possible to say how strong it is actually in the game.

However, other players are not yet so sure whether this attack will really be introduced for the Johto event. Caio_Go suspects that Ho-Oh could also get earthquakes (via reddit.com).

Assumptions about the Celebi attack

But the coaches already have an initial assumption about Celebi. Kingnorris42 writes, “I suspect that Zauberblatt will be the special attack Celebi is supposed to get given the timing. That’s certainly cool, but hopefully it won’t remain exclusive to Celebi, a lot of Pokémon could really use it, assuming good values ”(via reddit.com).

Other reddit users, however, suspect that Shaymin and Viridium in particular would benefit from such an attack (via reddit.com). However, both will not play a role in the Johto tour, as these monsters are native to other regions. Additionally, Sharmin is not yet available in-game at this time.

What kind of attack is that? Magic Leaf is a plant-type attack that is also not yet found in Pokémon GO. Some coaches are hoping for a good attack for the PvP league above all. How strong the attack really is in Pokémon GO cannot be said at the moment.

It also remains to be seen whether Ho-Oh, Lugia and Celebi will actually get these attacks. As soon as Niantic has announced the respective event attacks, you will find out here on MeinMMO.

What attacks do you suspect in Ho-Oh and Lugia? And which attack would you look forward to at Celebi? Feel free to write your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.

There is still a lot to do in Pokémon GO before the Johto Tour. We’ll show you all the events in December and tell you which of them you should definitely use.
