PS5: Scuf is finally showing “Elite Controllers” – in many colors and at high prices

The DualSense controller for the PS5 is currently only available in a few colors and, above all, without any special extras. Sony fans have been waiting in vain for back paddles like the legendary PS4 back key attachment. But rescue is near in the form of the first third-party controller for the PS5 from Scuf.

The renowned manufacturer is now showing three new controller variants based on the names SCUF Reflex, Reflex Pro and Reflex FPS. They offer all the functions of the DualSense, but also a few extras, rely on adaptability and fresh colors, but also cost significantly more than their Sony counterpart.

Competition for PS5 DualSense: SCUF introduces elite controllers with back paddles

This is what it’s about: There is not a large selection of controllers for the PS5. You can buy the DualSense pusher from Sony in the conventional white version, in red or black, that’s it. But now the matter is slowly moving. Third party manufacturer SCUF is bringing three of its own controller variations onto the market, which look promising but also quite expensive.

What the SCUF Reflex can do: Basically, the new third-party controller relies on offering all the functions of the classic DualSense – and on top of that. So you don’t have to do without the haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers (except for the Scuf Reflex FPS) and you also get four buttons on the back of the controller as well as exchangeable analog sticks. Four thumbstick versions are included.

There are 3 models:

  • SCUF Reflex: Like the DualSense, but with four configurable back paddles and adjustable analog sticks. Bluetooth, vibration, mute button and USB-C are also on board.
  • SCUF Reflex Pro: In addition to the features of the normal version, there is also a so-called performance handle. This ensures more grip when playing for a long time.
  • SCUF Reflex FPS: Is aimed explicitly at first person shooter fans and has no adaptive trigger, but so-called instant triggers and bumpers, which trigger immediately and can therefore be used more quickly.

Different colors: SCUF also brings its own controller onto the market in different colors. Initially there is only the black version, but the other colors will also come onto the market later. These can then be adjusted later with the help of the controller faceplates. You can see the planned colors in the header image of this article, but there is no exact release date yet.

Expensive pleasure: Quality has its price and the SCUF reflex controllers cost a lot of ash. The cheapest model is a proud 219.99 euros. The Scuf Reflex FPS even costs 269.99. That’s quite an announcement, after all, the controller costs almost as much as a console. The normal DualSense controllers from Sony are much cheaper.

When is the controller coming? It should actually be available now. But on the official website SCUF writes that the first wave of the SCUF Reflex is already sold out. But you can sign up for an email list there to be notified as soon as there is a replenishment.

How do you like the controller? Are you ready to spend that much money on a third party device?
