Destiny 2: How to complete the quest “Magnum Opus” for the exotic pistol “Trailblazer”

There’s a new secret exotic star in Destiny 2. The “Trailblazer” pistol was modeled on one of the most famous weapons from Halo: the Magnum pistol. In this guide, we explain to you what exactly you have to do to earn the new Halo-Exotic.

The “trailblazer” is also a relic from the old days, which can be earned during the 30th anniversary. With this weapon and the accompanying quest, Bungie has brought old memories of the Magnum pistol from Halo to Destiny 2. In order to get them, players have to complete the quest “Magnum Opus” (Latin for main work).

Who can earn the weapon: The Quest is available free of charge to all players, so everyone can enjoy this exotic, top-class weapon. The Destiny 2 PvP community in particular is already enthusiastic about the Halo returnee.

What makes the pistol so special?

• The weapon is kinetic and uses special ammunition.
• She has the exotic perk “emergency braking”. The pistol thus generates oversized, heavy-caliber long-range projectiles. It also fires fully automatically with an increased rate of fire. It deals increased precision damage to enemies without a shield.

The quest “Magnum Opus” starts in eternity: To get the quest for the weapon, visit the treasury of Xur in the new location “Eternity” and follow the interactions. After you have received various items and gifts, Xur will also hand you the quest “Magnum Opus” at the end.

Step 1: First collect “Strange Coins”

How to get Strange Coins: Players get the “Strange Coins” at random from various activities, such as the new 6-player activity “Trials of Eternity”, Vanguard Strikes or Crucible Matches. To complete the quest step, you need a total of 7 “Strange Coins”.

Our tip: We recommend you to play the new activity “Trials of Eternity” right away. In addition to the “Strange Coins” you need, you will also get rank progression at Xur at the same time. Above all, the progress in rank will later be important for the “Magnum Opus” quest.

Step 2: Complete 3 forays of the mysterious Star Horse

Once this is done, the quest requires the completion of three of the so-called “star horse forays”.

Where can I find the star horse? The star horse is an NPC that you can find in the new location “Die Ewigkeit”. There where you can also visit Xur, in his treasury. It offers you daily and weekly forays there.

More difficult forays will give you bonus progress. However, you can only do the forays one after the other, as you can only take one foray with you at a time. So pack one of them and then start the 6-player activity “Trials of Eternity” using the navigator. The activity has a matchmaking function in the normal difficulty level.

Step 3: Receive a “Strange Key” from Xur

This quest step is relatively easy. Especially if you follow our tip and have played the activity “Trials of Eternity” for the “Strange Coins”. Because in order to acquire the key from Xur, you must have achieved at least the “Strange Favor” rank 4.

Step 4: Enter the area of ​​the “Trials of Eternity”

With the key in the inventory you now enter the area of ​​the 6-player activity. It can be reached directly via Xur’s treasury by walking through the interstellar nebula that is carrying you away. We have marked the entrance for you.

Now lower the barrier and follow the quest diamond: Once there, keep to the right. There is a kind of “map” on a stone, but it is part of a cogwheel. Here the strange key can be activated and lowers a barrier that opens the way to a new area. If you look closely, you will see the Bungie gear there.

Find the “anomalous object” in the Cryo-Pod: The quest diamond shows you the way again. Run towards the gear. There you will find the entrance to a cave. There follow various jump passages that you have to do on your way. If that is done, you will reach a cryo-pod at the end, which you can open. Here you will get the last part to get the exotic pistol “Trailblazer”.

Step 5: visit Banshee-44 in the tower

The last step in the quest sends you to the armorer Banshee-44. Because your pistol, the “anomalous object” is not yet ready for use. Let him fix it for you. On the tower you will get the finished weapon and complete the quest with it.

How do you get the masterpiece catalyst for the “Wegbereiter” pistol?

Like the Gjallarhorn, this exotic pistol also received a masterpiece catalyst. However, the catalyst is tied to further reputation rank advancement at Xur.

For the catalyst you need the “abnormal access card”: So that you can make the weapon a masterpiece, you need the “abnormal access card”. You will get them as soon as you have achieved reputation rank 16 with Xur. So you have to play the activity “Trials of Eternity” and do raids to level up the rank. The daily and additional forays of Xur are ideal for this.

This is how you activate the masterpiece catalyst: As soon as you have received the catalyst for “Trailblazer”, you have to kill 700 enemies with the “Trailblazer” pistol. If you kill other Guardians with it, this will give you more progress.
