Banjo-Kazooie: Nintendo Switch Online gets another N64 classic

Banjo-Kazooie was an absolute highlight on the N64 and has enjoyed cult status ever since.

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can look forward to another highlight from the N64 era: In January, the classic Banjo-Kazooie will be added to the lineup of bonus games. For some time now, Nintendo has also been offering N64 titles, but only if you buy the expansion package for the online subscription, which costs extra. Apparently it remains the case that a new N64 game is added every month.

N64 classic Banjo-Kazooie comes as a bonus game in the Switch Online expansion pack

This is what it’s about: Nintendo Switch Online is the subscription service that you have to pay extra if you want to play online against other people on the Nintendo Switch. For this you also get some bonus games as a bonus, for which you don’t have to pay again, much like with PS Plus. Initially, these were only NES titles and SNES games, but now there are also N64 titles – but only if you buy the more expensive expansion package for an online subscription.

The fact that the N64 titles should not be included in the normal subscription, but instead cost extra, was not at all well received by many Nintendo players:

Banjo-Kazooie next: Nintendo can draw on unlimited resources when it comes to selecting the bonus titles for the Switch Online expansion and conjure up one cult classic after the other. The N64 era is full of absolute milestones that could all now gradually come to the Switch. In January it will be the turn of the rare platformer Banjo-Kazooie.

What is banjo kazooie? After Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie represents something like the blueprint of cool, funny and charming 3D platformer. Here the skills of the two animal protagonists are combined, there is a lot to collect and discover. The game pulls out all the stops, also in terms of level design, gameplay and music – it has contributed significantly to the popularity of the Rare development studio.

A game every month? After a real RPG classic with Paper Mario is subscribed in December today and Banjo-Kazooie is next month’s turn, it looks difficult as if a new N64 title is coming to the subscription service or its expansion every month. Compared to the competition, that is not exactly lush. Everything that has already been included in N64 classics can be seen here:

When is Banjo-Kazooie coming? Nintendo has not yet revealed an exact date. But since Paper Mario was added as a December bonus on December 10th, Banjo-Kazooie could possibly also be on the first Friday of the month. That would be January 7th, but Monday, January 10th would of course also be conceivable.
