Pokémon GO: Holiday Event brings new Pokémon and costumes for Christmas

This year’s holiday event will start in Pokémon GO in a few days. We at MeinMMO took a look at what awaits you at this event, what special features there will be and what new monsters you can look forward to.

What kind of event is that? The year is drawing to a close and the holidays are just around the corner. One reason for Niantic to mark the last few days of 2021 with a special holiday event. In the meantime you will encounter numerous monsters, cool bonuses and even a new Pokémon.

When does the holiday event take place? The event runs from December 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. local time through December 31, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. local time. According to Pokémon GO, there will again be two separate event parts (via pokemongolive.com):

  • Part 1 of the holiday event: from December 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. to December 23, 2021 at 8:00 p.m.
  • Part 2 of the holiday event: from December 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. to December 31, 2021 at 8:00 p.m.

There will be plenty of Pokémon waiting for you during the holiday event. In addition to dazzling specimens, you will also discover one or the other costumed monster. In addition, a new Pokémon celebrates its debut in the game in the second part.

The new Pokémon Arktip

In the second part of the holiday event, which starts on December 23, a new Pokémon celebrates its debut in the game: Arktip. The ice-type monster comes from the 6th generation and can be further developed into Arktilas. Outwardly, Arktip is reminiscent of a small iceberg. The dazzling version, however, will not be found in Pokémon GO for the time being.

In the first part of the event there is just a special bonus waiting for you: special event field research. As usual, you will receive these during this time when you turn the PokéStops.
