LoL: The Sparkasse and HandOfBlood want to save silver cardboard noses from Elo hell

The German YouTuber Maximillian “HandOfBlood” Knabe (29) has founded a team with Eintracht Spandau that wants to compete in the League of Legends in 2022. The team is now entering into a partnership with the Sparkasse: HandOfBlood becomes the high-Elo consultant. The declared goal: Coach and motivate LoL players who are in ELO hell so that they can find out.

This is the announcement: The Sparkasse discovers e-sports for itself. It is said that HandOfBlood was hired as “the first e-sports consultant in Germany”.

The Sparkasse is already enthusiastic about e-sports, in 2021 they sponsored the playoffs of the European professional league LEC, and they want to continue in 2022. In addition, you will now become an official partner of “Eintracht Spandau”, the German LoL team that HandOfBlood founded.

The Sparkasse wants to start an e-sports campaign in 2022: The idea is for HandOfBlood to demonstrate its “core competence in consulting in e-sports”. You can get a foretaste of what it looks like in a commercial from April 2021.

German YouTuber founds e-sports team – joins the highest German LoL league

“My colleagues are all platinum – and I can keep up with them!”

This is what the spot shows: In the spot, two customers sit in front of the office of the “high-Elo consultant”, HandOfBlood, and talk about their experiences in ELO hell. Of course, both are actually much stronger than the league in which they unfairly have to play: the other players “in” constantly and then simply left the matches. Who does not know that?

In the background, HandOfBlood is folding up a player with increased volume, and if he continues to play so badly at “iron level” he will end up like the “silver cardboard noses” with whom he is about to have a meeting. The two winced.

The spot alludes to the typical talk of ranked LoL players who generally feel too badly rated and only do so badly because they always get terrible players. One speaks of the “Elo hell”, in which one is stuck and from which one simply cannot escape.

Wwhy is this happening now? The Sparkasse apparently wants to tap into a young target group.

The idea behind Eintracht Spandau is, with the help of a big YouTuber and his agency, to set up a “regional esports organization” that employs LoL professionals for more than six months so that fans can identify with the brand.
