Sony is finally introducing colorful records for the PS5 – you should know that

Sony has introduced colorful side plates for the PS5. This fulfills a great wish of users who absolutely do not like the white design of the PS5. MeinMMO explains what you need to know.

This is what it’s about: So far, the PS5 is only available in a uniform white design, but many users do not like this design. Some manufacturers saw this as an opportunity and tried to sell their own black sideplates for the PS5. Sony had acted quickly and successfully against a number of dealers.

That’s what happened now: Sony has now presented official sideplates for the PS5. The manufacturer is thus fulfilling a great wish in the community. Many would like different colors, but so far there have only been different third-party providers.

Official sideplates for the PS5 come in 5 colors for around 50 euros

For which console can the panels be used? The PS5 platters will be available for both the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray drive and the PS5 Digital Edition and are available separately from the PS5 console and the DualSense controller. So you have to buy a side plate in addition to your console. A console with the colors for direct purchase is not (yet) planned.

What colors are there? At the start there are a total of 5 different colors that match the DualSense controllers that have already been introduced. You can order the following colors in the future:

• Midnight Black,
• Cosmic Red
• Nova Pink
• Starlight Blue
• Galactic Purple

When can you buy it? Sony had stated in its blog that the side plates should be available in Germany from January 2022. The price is said to be around $ 55:

Third party suppliers of sideplates never had a good stand – now Sony offers sideplates itself

There have been discussions within the community about sideplates for a long time. In the case of Customize My Plates, which was forced by Sony’s lawyers to stop selling colorful sideplates. Here Sony had argued that the colored sideplates, like the PS5, were the intellectual property of Sony and that action would be taken against the company as soon as the plates were on the market.
