FIFA 22: Next Generation is Broken – When will you get your gift cards?

After a long wait, FIFA 22 started handing out the next generation gifts. But due to a bug with the Mbappé card, nobody is getting one of the cards for the time being.

What kind of event is that? “Next Generation” was announced in November and contains 6 special cards for certain players with different values. These are the following footballers:

  • LF: Kylian Mbappé (86)
  • ZM: Eduardo Camavinga (81)
  • ZM: Jude Bellingham (81)
  • ZOM: Phil Foden (85)
  • LF: Christian Pulisic (83)
  • LV: Theo Hernandez (85)

How do you get the tickets? Actually, it should be a simple matter: The only requirement is that you have to be logged in to FIFA 22 by January 14, 2022 in order to get one of the cards at random.

Today, December 15th, the distribution of the cards to the players should start. And for a short time it did that too – but the whole thing is currently deactivated again.

Players pull striker Mbappé – Next Generation is currently unavailable

That’s the problem: Apparently an error occurred with the Mbappé card: Actually, the Frenchman should be included in the next generation pack as “LF”, that is, as the left winger. But players pulled the French out of the pack as an ST, i.e. striker.

The problem was already addressed on Twitter via the “FIFA Direct Communication Channel”: “We have temporarily deactivated the distribution of the Next Generation Player Item Pack while we are working to fix a problem,” the official said (via Twitter).

They are now working on equipping the “Next Generation Player Item Pack” with the correct version before the pack is made available to everyone again. How long this will take is still open – we will keep you up to date at this point.

What will happen to the Mbappé? Players who pulled the wrong Mbappé should get the correct LF variant as soon as it has been determined which players are affected. However, this could take a little time, according to FIFA Direct Communication.
