Diablo 3: Expert Wudijo draws a conclusion on the big exploit in Season 25 – How bad is it?

In Season 25 of Diablo 3, a nasty exploit is currently active that gives users incredible powers. An unfair situation arose in the rankings. We asked Diablo expert Wudijo how bad the exploit is, how it works and how you should deal with users.

What kind of exploit is that? We reported on December 15th here on MeinMMO that an exploit in the new season 25 of Diablo 3 is currently ruining the rankings. At its core, it is about players who exploit a mechanic in the game in a way that is not intended. This gives them an incredible advantage in the ranking. While “normal” players currently need around 11 minutes for a Level 150 Greater Rift, exploiters can do it in less than a minute.

We talked about the exploit in an interview with Wudijo. Wudijo is known in the community for his concentrated Diablo knowledge. He regularly streams his runs on Twitch, streams on average in front of 5,000 people when a new season starts in D3 and helps his viewers who ask questions in the chat. How does the expert assess the exploit?

This is how the exploit works in Season 25 of D3

MeinMMO: Hey Wudijo, please introduce yourself to our readers on MeinMMO.

Wudijo: Hi, everyone! I’ve been a full-time streamer and have been playing Diablo 3 since the very beginning. If you’ve ever heard of Maxroll have heard, then you have probably already read one or the other guide from me or on YouTube seen. on Twitch I’m online every day and I’m always looking forward to new faces in the chat! My specialty in D3 is solo pushing.

MeinMMO: In your stream you could see a player who uses exploits to complete the Greater Rifts of level 150 in a speed run. Do you know how the exploit works and can you give us a rough explanation?

Wudijo: Yes, I know exactly how it works and I’ve already passed that on to Blizzard. Roughly explained, there has been a bug with the GoD set since the last patch, which under very specific circumstances allows the momentum / swing buff of the 2 bonus to stack up to infinity. This means that everything can be done in one fell swoop, even a boss in GR150.

A look at the ranking of Season 25 (as of December 16 at 12:55 p.m.) shows incredible times for completing the 150 Rifts with the help of the new exploit.

MeinMMO: Does the exploit only affect the Demon Hunter with the GoD set?

Wudijo: Yes, but since it’s mainly about the bonus of 2, the whole thing also works as a combo with Natalya or without a full set, where the ranking lists can now also be affected. Overall, the exploit is at least fairly limited.

MeinMMO: Are you still having fun with Season 25 knowing that players are “cheating” their way to the top of the leaderboards with such an exploit?

Wudijo: Absolutely! I really like the season. Even though my most important goal (World First 150 Solo Hardcore) is already behind me – I’m having a lot of fun with the Soul Shards and the new builds. At the moment I am working on my marauder DH after the monk, with whom I also want to come to 150. All in all, I’m looking forward to some exciting weeks in the season and a few exploiters will hardly spoil my fun.

Bans are justified as a consequence – nobody does this by mistake

MeinMMO: Do you find a ban on the players who intentionally used the exploit justified?

Wudijo: I think an account ban or at least a 2 week time-out would definitely be justified. Even if the bug can extremely rarely occur by chance and suddenly you do a lot more damage than usual for a moment, the GR150 exploit requires a very systematic approach and a setup that is completely outside of normal gameplay, which permanently fixes the bug.

This means that anyone who has used it or has benefited from it on a large scale (in groups) can be thrown out of the season completely without hesitation.

The rankings offer a good overview and by and large there are not very many accounts as long as Blizzard does not wait too long with a fix and the exploit continues to spread. The experience that can be obtained in the GR150 in 1 minute or less is far beyond anything any high-end grinder could have ever dreamed of.

If you look at other exploits in the past, they were comparatively mega harmless – and also resulted in a ban (for example the Blood Shard exploit around season 3).

Nobody can play stupid here and say, “I didn’t know that”.

Some also try to circumvent a possible ban by simply exploiting on GR149, where they do not get a new placement – but whoever runs around after a week with 4000+ Paragon and gets another 500 daily can just be exploiting. This makes it very easy to find all of them.

MeinMMO: What consequences would a season reset have for the players? Would a reset that only affects the ranking be better?

Wudijo: I’ve also heard from some people who talked about a season reset. I don’t think that makes any sense at all. The number of exploiters seems to be very small, and if Blizzard was there, I would pick them all out by hand.

A full reset would rather result in most people simply not coming back after a week of lost progress. Just resetting the ranking doesn’t make much sense if the exploiters are banned – they’ll disappear anyway. I strongly doubt that the placements will be permanently on the list after a fix.

MeinMMO: Thank you for your expert opinion on the subject.
