A perk in CoD Vanguard is so broken that opponents hit you worse

Call of Duty: Vanguard struggles with a nasty bug that deactivates Aim Assist for controllers – but for enemies. MeinMMO shows you the background and what the developers say about it.

The current CoD, Call of Duty: Vanguard, has a few nasty bugs many weeks after its release. Some are so mean that they intervene directly in the game and affect the balance.

Now it shows: With a special perk you can partially deactivate the opponent’s aim assist. This will make it harder for controller players to hit you.

“Cold-blooded” disturbs the aim assist for controllers

Which perk is it? It’s about the perk “Cold Blood”. Actually, the ability is responsible for ensuring that thermal visors do not highlight you and the perk “Alert” does not give your enemies a message if you look at them from behind or from the side.

The newest “function” is unwanted and has probably already caused some strange moments for controller players.

Because if a controller player with Aim Assist aims at an enemy with “cold blooded”, this can briefly deactivate the Assist.

How bad is that The aim-assist in modern CoD games consists of 2 components:

  • Target slowdown
    • Input sensitivity briefly reduced
  • Target rotation
    • Crosshair moves behind the enemy for a split second when the aim-assist player moves

In a firefight, the “target slowdown” is strong because controller players can coordinate their reflexes with the assist. A kind of “trigger window” is created – as soon as you subconsciously notice the slowdown, you start to fire at the enemy.

This takes a lot of training and many players will not even be aware of how much their own aiming in CoD is influenced by target slowing down.

If the aim assist fails in the middle of a battle, it is an extremely unusual feeling. A certain uncertainty creeps in because you are used to playing with the assist. This can be very uncomfortable for controller players, as Call of Duty suddenly feels different – for no apparent reason.

So, if you’ve had unusual aiming problems in the past few days, this may be the answer.

Will it stay that way? The developers of Sledgehammer Games already have the error on their fix sheet (via Trello.com). There is no date for the repair, but it should be fixed with one of the next updates.

Players are stressed out from making a lot of mistakes

What do the players say about it? There is a thread on reddit about the problem and the comments with the most upvotes rail against the state of the game.

As soon as the problem with aim assist comes up, the mood becomes a little more conciliatory – although aim assist is otherwise often controversial:

  • Some “mouse and keyboard” players can’t resist a little tip: “As an M&K player, I see the posts and it makes me happy – Hell yes, Muhaha,” says Manakuski.
  • Beachampion110 is on the side of the consoles and was already wondering what’s going on with his aiming: “I played a few matches today and something felt wrong – I thought I was so bad, lol. I’m glad that others have the problem too and it’s not just me ”.
