Halo Infinite: The cute grunts can finally be more self-confident

The cowardly grunts convince in Halo Infinite above all with their sayings.

Halo Infinite lets you compete against the Banished in the campaign. The new adversaries also have the Grunts with them, which Halo fans already know from other games. There they were extremely cowardly, but now, due to the story, there was a boost for their self-confidence, which made the Grunts with their funny sayings a fan favorite.

The grunts from Halo Infinite were even bigger cowards

In an interview with Gamesradar Lead narrative designer Aaron Linde commented on the Grunts in Halo Infinite. According to him, there is a reason why the Grunts suddenly go into battle a lot more than in the previous parts:

I’m really happy that people are noticing the Grunts’ increased levels of self-esteem. We wanted to make the change clear through the slight egalitarianism of the Banished, which makes them more equal. They were employed at the bottom of the covenants. They are still cowards now, badly treated by others, but they are on the same level, if only within the organization. This is also reflected in the way in which the elites speak to them, for example (‘Come on, little warriors!’).

These are the grunts: Even in the first parts of the Halo series, the little enemies were used as cannon fodder by the Covenants of that time. In the meantime, however, they are helping the Banished, who value equality within the allies. The Grunts have not become stronger as a result, but have developed a higher level of self-confidence.

This made the little helpers an absolute fan favorite. Thanks to Aaron Linde, we now also know that the whole thing is even part of the world and it makes sense that the Grunts now speak much more confidently.
