LN athlete of the year 2021: These are our nine suggestions for the teams

Last year we were still looking for the LN athlete of the decade, now the best athletes of the year will be chosen again. In the team ranking, the question arises: Who will be the successor to VfB Lübeck, which won the award for the best team in 2019? Old friends like VfL Lübeck-Schwartau, which has won the team category five times since the 2013 revival, are also part of the game. The Lübeck Cougars (winner 2015) are also available – and a broad field of participants that is more diverse than perhaps never before:

MTV Lübeck (Handball / A-Youth)

The A-youth handball players of the In August, MTV Lübeck celebrated the greatest success in their club history with a sworn team: promotion to the junior Bundesliga. In a three-way final tournament Bjarne Gronek and Co. defeated VfL Lübeck-Schwartau in the final with 22:15. MTV is currently in sixth place in main round B, season one, with 4:10 points.

CE Timmendorfer Strand

After seasons in which the “Beach Devils” dominated their leagues, rose, but then had to pause due to Corona, the new terrain Regional League was due in 2021. Would coach Michael Pohl’s team be able to keep up with the Harzer Falken and Co.? The answer is yes. Fifth place is currently on the books, sometimes rousing ice hockey was offered, often they wanted CET skid cracks too many – that has to be booked as an apprenticeship.

MTV Lübeck (all-around)

In Wesel (North Rhine-Westphalia) Janina Lange, Paula De Boer and Katharina Kemp competed in the German all-around championships in August – and they returned to the north with team silver. In the U23 classification, De Boer collected 5537 points (silver), which means she has increased by 600 points within a year. Lange also took individual silver (5613 points), Kemp was sixth (5230 points). In total, the athletes got 16,380 points and improved the 20-year-old state record of the Kiel TB.

VfB Lübeck

After relegation from the third division, there was a change at the time VfB Lübeck. New, especially young players should turn things around and give their own offspring a chance. It took a long time for the green-whites to groove themselves with this strategy. In mid-November, the first partial success came with the entry into the state cup final, at the end of 2021 the team said goodbye to coach Lukas Pfeiffer with four wins in fifth place in the championship round in the winter break.

Müller/Rietschel

Set on twelve – landed on three: The duo Tilo Rietschel and Jonas Müller impressed in August at the German Beach Volleyball Championships in Laboe and secured the bronze medal. Only the later winners Bo Hansen and Hennes Nissen from Flensburg had to admit defeat. But Rietschel and Müller also master day-to-day business: the talents are regulars in the VSG Lübeck regional league team.

Lübeck Cougars

Lots of bad luck with injuries and an offense in which not much came together – the season of the Lübeck Cougars was mixed. Nevertheless, the mountain lions defied the situation, set their scent marks and thus showed exemplary morality. It paid off. After the GFL2 season, four Cougars footballers became Inspection course of the national team invited.

Sach / Sach

Youthful: Anton and Johann Sach (Lübeck Yacht Club) were just 14 and 16 years old respectively when they visited the 29er class sailed for gold at the German championships on the Wannsee – and thus became the youngest German champions ever. But that’s not all: Almost a month beforehand, they prevailed against 82 competitors at the Kieler Woche and won there too.

VfL Lübeck-Schwartau

The 2020/21 season closed VfL Lübeck-Schwartau in tenth place, finished fifth in the home table. In the current season, however, not much has come together for coach Piotr Przybecki’s team. Bad luck with injuries and failures due to Corona shook the “white tigers”, who are currently only in 16th place, but at least stick their claws out there.

TSV Trittau

Bundesliga badminton can still be seen in Trittau. the TSV holds its own with modest means in the top division, even if it has to struggle with personnel problems, as it is now shortly before the end of 2021. And yet: The badminton department of TSV Trittau shows what with a lot of heart and soul Use is possible.
