Apple could launch an audiobook service by the end of the year

Apple could be preparing a new subscription that includes audiobooks.

A new information publication reveals that Apple may be working on a new service related to audiobooks. As has happened with music, that instead of buying it individually we pay a subscription to all the songs, something similar could happen with books, and Apple has a very powerful platform that integrates books and audiobooks.

According to a article of The Economist, which talks about Apple’s effort to compete with Netflix, Disney and Amazon in the streaming war, the Cupertino company could be working on a new service related to audiobooks.

In the past two years, Apple has made smaller media bets, including Arcade, a subscription game bundle, News +, a news bundle, and Fitness +, which offers video aerobics classes. There is talk of an audiobook service later this year.

Books +, doesn’t sound bad

Article just mention the possible audiobook service, without going into the matter, but this is not the first time that a major publication has spoken in this regard. A few weeks ago, Mark Gurman reported on the news that Apple would launch in 2022, talking about “expanding the Apple One program and better integrating services.”

Audiobooks may be one of the next novelties to come to Apple One, a new subscription that is integrated into the company’s service pack together with Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Fintess+ o Apple News+.

The only relevant audiobook platform on the market is Audible from Amazon, and Apple’s bookstore is quite important, with many audiobooks as well. It is not unreasonable to think of a new subscription that combines books and audiobooks from the Apple store. We will see if it arrives or not in 2022.
