The MMORPG Lost Ark has now been published in several regions and is continuously receiving content updates. The game now has 21 different classes, each with their own gameplay peculiarities.
The Lost Ark booth: At the Summer Games Fest 2021 it was announced that Lost Ark will finally come to Europe in autumn 2021. After a postponement, the game will be released on February 11th. The first closed beta test for which players could register began in July. The aim of this was to test the server infrastructure and give the players an insight into the EU version.
Update January 5th, 2022: The article has been brought up to date with the EU. The new names of the classes have been added as well as their availability at the launch of the European version. The article now also includes a quick reference guide to all classes in video format.

5 basic classes with different specializations
How does the Lost Ark class system work? Basically, at the beginning the players have the choice between 5 different basic classes that are gender-locked.
From level 10 and after playing through a start quest series, you then have the opportunity to specialize in an “advanced” class. As an example: Bard, Summoner and Arcana evolve from the Mage.
Each of the basic classes has its own starter area with its own story.
This is a longer tutorial designed to teach players basic controls and how to use the class. As soon as you are done with it, you get access to a training arena, in which you can test the skills of all specializations of your chosen basic class in detail.
Are there fixed roles? In contrast to many classic MMORPGs, Lost Ark does not use the “Holy Trinity” system of tanks, healers and DDs.
Instead, almost all classes have support and CC skills that make them better suited for specific roles in combat. For example, thanks to his high level of defense, a warlord can take more than a bard who can heal in return.
However, there is no strict distribution of roles.
Basic class: Martial artist
Scrapper

How does the scrapper play? Scrapper is a fast-paced monk-like class that specializes in hand-to-hand combat.
The active skills of the scrapper are divided into two large groups, each of which requires its own resource for use: Ki (yellow) and Shock (green).
The resource Ki slowly recharges itself in combat. Shock must be charged through the use of Ki skills. However, the use of green shock skills also regenerates the Ki resource, so that an interaction arises.
Many of their skills receive powerful crowd control effects via the passive skills, which are primarily intended to keep the opponents stunned.
The Scrapper is also a very mobile class with multiple evasion skills and gap closers that let the character quickly sprint to the nearest opponent.
With her special ability “Peerles Dragon King”, Infighter summons two dragons, with whose help she carries out an extremely powerful attack.
Soul fist

How does the soul fist play? Anyone who has always wanted to throw energy bullets in the style of Dragon Ball around has come to the right place with the Soul Fist. In addition to the normal physical attacks in close combat, he can attack his opponents at long distances with fireballs and lasers. It is a hybrid class for close and long range combat.
Some of their skills are also boosted when they hit the enemy from behind.
The special skill of the fist of the soul is “Concentration”. If you use this ability, then it regenerates your resource Ki, which you need for the use of abilities, strengthens your attacks, increases attack speed and the chance of critical hits.
It has three different levels that are activated by repeatedly pressing a button. The higher the activated level, the higher the buff, because you get through concentration. However, the duration of the buff is reduced.
When all three levels have been used, the character changes to the “meditation” state, while Concentration recharges.
Lance Master

How does the Lance Master play? The class is the latest addition that the Fighter archetype has received. In combat, Lance Master alternates between two different weapons: the spear and the halberd, which gives you access to different sets of skills.
The change happens when the Lance Master changes his posture:
- “Ambush” posture is more suitable for large groups of enemies and AOE attacks
- “Intensive”, on the other hand, specializes in individual opponents and deals high damage to them
The Lance Master isn’t quite as vulnerable as some of his fellow fighters, as he can deploy a shield on himself. This can be life-saving in some situations.
It’s a relatively simple class that doesn’t have any special mechanics that would complicate it. You play a DPS here and your job is to professionally dismantle the opponents.
War dancer

How does the war dancer play? In contrast to the scrapper, the war dancer’s moves are faster and more acrobatic, which makes the class the fastest in the game. She also has air combos, elemental skills, and quick evasive maneuvers.
Their special resource is based on three elementary spheres that charge themselves in combat through the use of normal abilities.
Once the first bullet is charged, the war dancer can use it to perform a strong finisher.
The player can choose whether to use one, two or all three balls at the same time. Depending on the amount, the skill the war dancer uses also changes. The bullets recharge quickly in combat, so you can use the skills frequently.
The war dancer needs good reflexes because, like Arcana, she has little defense, but still has to stand close to the enemy.
Striker

How does the striker play? The Striker is basically a male version of the Wardancer. Instead of completely lifting the gender lock, the developers have brought a new all-male monk class into the game.
Striker is very similar to Wardancer in terms of gameplay. For example, the two classes share the same resource with three elementary balls and many of the skills are very similar, if not completely the same.
However, the class has its own little special features, such as animations or CC effects that set the Striker apart from the Wardancer. Individual skills are also completely different.
