The Witcher Season 3 on Nextflix: Shooting will start soon

Ciri and Geralt get to deepen their relationship in season 3.

After a lot of effort, at the end of the year we got the second season of the Netflix series for The Witcher. The production suffered from the many restrictions caused by the corona pandemic and a serious injury to lead actor Henry Cavill.

Season 3 in preproduction: So that we don’t have to wait too long for the next season, filming will probably start soon. The script is already ready and was written between July and December 2021. Now it goes into preproduction, and then the cameras run.

When does the shooting of The Witcher Season 3 start?

According to the insider portal Redanian Intelligence supposed to be shooting from March 2022 to run. However, plans in the film industry can change quickly, and the start has already been postponed from February to March.

Since the corona pandemic is not giving up, there will be disabilities again in this regard. In addition, they move into a new studio with a completely new set that has to be built first. The shooting should ideally be completed in August.

When does The Witcher Season 3 appear?

There is a lot of CG in the Witcher series, and post-production is correspondingly complex. Redanian Intelligence calculates in spring 2023 at the earliest with the broadcast of the third season.

This is what the critics say about Season 2: Even if Season 2 of The Witcher does a lot better – the linear story in particular is well received – the reviews are mixed at best. That affects both the press and the fans.

The latter depend primarily on the fact that the series deviates extremely from the games and especially the books. It will be exciting to see whether the producers will include the criticism in the future. The audience numbers seem to be right.

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich gives us a little teaser. In the third season, the elves will likely play an even bigger role. Of course, the focus of the story remains on Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer. In addition, some story threads from Season 1 should be recorded again.

The game series is not over yet: Even if The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a kind of conclusion to the trilogy of CD Projekt Red, the studio will probably work on a fourth part. Until we see something of the title, however, there will still be some time left.
