LoL: Statistics show which Champions Riot is particularly fond of and donates the most skins to them

The fans of League of Legends often have discussions about which champions the developer Riot Games is particularly fond of and therefore gives them a lot of skins, and which ones are rather unpopular. In reddit, a player compared all champions and their skins. A champion from 2020 is the big winner in terms of skins.

What kind of statistic is that? The reddit user raikaria2 created a table that lists all champions and their number of skins. He has also divided them into 5 categories, depending on how many skins they have received on average since their release.

There were some interesting results.

A champion from 2020 gets a particularly large number of skins

Which champions get the most skins? The front runner when it comes to skins is Sett. Sett was released in January 2020, almost exactly two years ago. With patch 12.2, he will get his fifth skin in January 2022 – Firecracker Sett.

On average, Sett gets a new skin every 4.8 months. That’s the record in the game.

LoL Ezreal Wallpaper
In addition to Sett, Ezreal, Lux and Kai’Sa are among the champions with the most skins.

But Riot is also particularly fond of other champions:

  • Lux and Ezreal each have 16 different skins, making them the most in the game. On average, she gets a new one every 8.3 months (8.8 months at Ezreal).
  • The champions Ahri (14 skins), Akali (14 skins) and Miss Fortune (15 skins) also offer a very large selection of skins.
  • With one of the highest skin rates per month, Kai’Sa. It gets a skin every 5.8 months and already has 8, although it was only released in 2018.

It is also a bit surprising that some monster champions are among those with the most skins. Often the community complains that only human champions get skins. Kog’Maw and Renekton, for example, both have 12 skins.

The years 2009, 2015 and 2016 produced the most unpopular champions

Which champions are particularly unpopular? Rell is probably in first place on the unpopularity scale. Rell wasn’t released until the end of 2020, but has only one skin. Even Gwen, Akshan and Viego, all of which were only released in 2021, already have two skins. A third skin has even been announced for Viego.

However, there is also a strong challenger: Taric. It was released in August 2009 and has just 5 skins. So he only gets a new skin every 29.3 months. Let’s see if Rell can undercut that.

LoL Rework
Taric only gets a new skin every 29 months on average.

The big losers also include:

  • Zilean – It came into play in April 2009 and has 6 skins.
  • Sion – in the game since release and just 7 skins.
  • Urgot – got 5 skins since its release in August 2010

It is also strange here with almost all champions from 2015 and 2016. Because Tham Kench, Kindred, Illaoi, Aurelion Sol, Talyiah, Kled and Ivern all only have 3 or a maximum of 4 skins. Only Jhin (7 skins) and Ekko (8 skins) were spared the great skin drought during this period.

With Rhakan, Xayah and Zoe (all 3 appeared in 2017 and already have 6 skins) the drought then ended.

What do you think of this statistic? Are there any surprises for you or were the champions you were expecting particularly popular? Feel free to write it in the comments.
