ESO: 3 exciting hints to discover new content in 2022

In a short teaser video, there were first outlooks for 2022 in the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online. The video mainly shows ships in stormy seas. It is not yet known exactly where it is going. MeinMMO author MiezeMelli took a look at the ESO map to find out more.

In a video there is currently a first glimpse into the new chapter of the upcoming DLC. On January 27th, from 9 p.m., you can be part of the teased Bethesda unveiling event live (via Twitch). But waiting in silence is hardly possible in the ESO community.

What hints are there already?

There is already speculation on reddit that the new chapter will put the Bretons in the foreground. You can find out more in the article ESO: New teaser gives a first insight into the content of 2022 – Put Bretons in focus.

After watching our first article about the teaser video, I first asked myself: “How exactly do they come to the Bretons?” The main reason for this is the architecture of buildings and the armor of the person at the end of the video.

The armor could show a Breton craft style. So the players from reddit could actually be right. But Breton architecture? That sounds a bit far-fetched to me for the little building that you see in the trailer.

Here you can watch the video yourself on Youtube:

There is already 1 minute 23 seconds for you to see from the new chapter.

1. Unknown areas on the Tamriel map provide clues

But maybe we can find clues in the game itself as to what else to expect in the year ahead. To do this, I just took a closer look at our well-known map of Tamriel. There are still some areas there that we cannot yet enter. The next chapter should lead us somewhere.

We definitely have one clue: the area is on the coast. You can see that from the stormy sea in the video and the waiting character who looks at the sea.

If we take this into account and orientate ourselves a little more on the assumption of some players that the Breton style can be seen in the video, then the following area comes to the fore:

Below the Daggerfall Covenant territories, between the Alik’r Desert and Hew’s Bane. This area borders on the area of the alliance to which the Bretons belong and has a remarkable amount of stretch along the coast on the western side. Or does the next chapter lead us out of Tamriel?

What does out of Tamriel mean? Some areas are not in Tamriel and outside of Nirn. So seen outside of the world in ESO. There are already areas to which this also applies. This includes:

These areas are located in the so-called Aurbis. This is what the area that does not belong to Nirn and Tamriel is called. Here, however, it is difficult to find any indications as to whether a new chapter area will be added in 2022.

2. Doodle by the game designer or a long thought-out hint on the map?

I am also very sure of one thing: the ships and the seafaring itself have a special place in the video. If we focus on it and look at the map again, something else is noticeable.

There are always a few doodles in the ocean. Are these only there to beautify the map and are supposed to make the empty ocean livelier or are they maybe more?

Shuttle No. 1

In the north-west, in the corner of the map, you can see a drawing of a ship. The surrounding areas are known to us. That is where the Daggerfall Alliance lies.

Shuttle No. 2

To the south of the ship no. 1, also in the far west of the map, another ship drawing can be seen. The next area that remains undiscovered is the area between the Alik’r Desert and Hew’s Bane. Does this perhaps confirm my suspicion?

Shuttle No. 3

We find a third boat in the north-east, also in the very corner of the map. It almost looks as if it is no longer completely intact and is partly under water. Perhaps the cause was a stormy sea? There is a large unknown area under the ship’s drawing.

To the east of Vvardenfell and bordering Deshaan and Steinfälle is a strip of land that we do not yet know. To the northeast of the area are also unknown islands: A larger island, surrounded by two small islands.

Shuttle No. 4

The last boat is located south of the 3rd boat. The next unknown areas are above the area next to Vvardenfell, which we have already named for boat no. 3. But there is another unknown area near the ship.

This area borders on Deshaan, Schattenfenn, as well as Darkforest and Murkmire. The part of the area at the level of the boat also has a noticeable stretch of coastline.

3. Sea expedition?

What I personally find very interesting is the beginning of the video. The first glance shows a table with a model of a ship. This scene is very reminiscent of how strategies or battles are modeled in advance. The picture then changes into another scene and the model ship “transforms” into a real ship at sea.

Is this a hint of an expedition? The scene at least suggests it. In addition, the ship is oriented towards an island, i.e. it is moving towards it. Which mysterious island is it?

Another important clue is that the island is covered in snow, so it can be assumed that we are there in the north of Tamriel. An island that has not yet been named is north of Ostmarsch and is also still unknown to us.

Does the new chapter really bring us one of these areas? Or maybe it doesn’t even take place on the mainland? What is your guess? Did you see a detail that we missed? Please write it in the comments, we are curious!
