New multiplayer shooter on Steam already in beta – What is Super People?

How famous is Super People? The biggest streamers – like Shroud, Dr Disrespect and TimTheTatman – have played the Super People in front of their large audiences. The number of players is also impressive:

According to SteamCharts, the game usually has around 20,000 to 30,000 players at the same time, at peak times it is often around 40,000. Once, almost 55,000 players were playing in Super People at the same time (via SteamCharts).

These numbers are impressive for several reasons: The game currently not only has significantly more players on Steam such as Halo Infinite, Battlefield 2042 or the survival hit Valheim. The game is still relatively unknown to most players and is also in a closed beta.

How can I play the game? Super People is currently free to play. It can be assumed that it will also be free-to-play when it is released. The game has not yet been released and there is no release date either. But you can already play it via a closed beta.

In order to be able to play, you first have to get access to the closed beta. But this is done very easily and quickly:

You can request access to Super People on Steam. You can do this with just a few clicks of the Steam page of the game. You get access to the closed beta right now and usually very quickly – many players seem to be able to get started just a few minutes after the request.

Super People is not original, but it plays well

How does Super People play? At first glance, Super People looks almost identical to PUBG. This is also the case with the second and third glance:

• As in PUBG, Super People is a battle royale, which you can choose to play in first or third person.
• The guns available in Super People are almost identical to the guns in PUBG.
• You loot and equip objects and weapons just like in PUBG – with a virtually identical menu and the same routines.
• Even when firing, the guns in Super People feel the same as in PUBG.

Those are just the main gameplay similarities to PUBG. Even players who only know the Battle Royale classic from videos will discover many more similarities. These include, for example:

• The waiting lobby before a game
• The customization options of your character
• The structure of the map and the most important locations
• The vehicles
• The mechanics around the ring
• The control
• The options menu

What makes Super People special? Super People clearly stands out from PUBG in the details. One of the reasons for this is that it also uses cheekily from all the other battle royale titans. But Super People does this in a clever way that ensures a good mix:

• Weapons in the game are rare. The rarer the weapon, the better its stats. This is reminiscent of Fortnite.
• You can’t build structures like in Fortnite, but you still collect materials. You can use them to build or upgrade your equipment and weapons with a quick crafting animation.
• At the beginning of a round you are assigned a superhero. This works like a class from a hero shooter: You have many special skills, both as active skills with a cooldown and as passive strengths. It’s reminiscent of Apex Legends.
• The loadouts in CoD: Warzone seem to have pleased the developers at Super People too. You start each round with a random signature weapon that you do more damage with. After a few minutes in a round, a loadout package lands on the map, which contains this weapon, among other things.
• Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown was also played by the developers. In the rounds you can collect blueprints and money that you can invest in your characters and their class. You won’t lose the gold at the end of the round, but the more you loot, the easier it is for you to go into a game with a desired loadout.

Even if none of these elements are original: When combined, they result in a unique mix that really stirs up the well-known PUBG gameplay. For example, your signature weapons and class skills affect which guns you will play. So you have an incentive to play weapons that you don’t actually like.

How do the superheroes work? Arguably the most exciting feature of this list is the superheroes, who function like classes in other games. There are currently 12 in the game, and they are changing gameplay in the most obvious and fun way possible.

At the beginning of each round it is randomly chosen which superhero you are. For 100 gold you can change this selection at random, for 500 gold you can choose who you want to play.

One class, for example, has an atomic bomb as its ultimate, which works like a more powerful air strike from CoD Warzone. If you see enemies in a building or behind cover, you can use nuclear firepower to blast them into the next lobby.

Another superhero is very nimble, can slide for cover, attack aggressively – and then use a teleport to save himself from a dangerous situation in a split second.

The Driver class is also surprisingly fun and effective: Your Ultimate is a golden and armored monster truck, with your skills you can jump with it. So you can beam this car to you at high frequency and bring you to safety, use it as mobile cover or aggressively hit opponents.

How are the heroes changing the gameplay? These heroes don’t always feel fair these days. You can certainly still screw on the balancing. But the classes make the deadly serious and slow gameplay of PUBG much faster and looser. Without the guns playing less realistically or well.

The result is an interesting mix that offers a lot of familiar features, but changes it in a noticeable and fun way with eccentric additions. So when you play, Super People is more than just a simple and shameless PUBG copy.

Gamers love the mix of gameplay

Even if nobody calls the game original: The players have a lot of fun with Super People and often find it better than the big competition.

• For example, YouTuber jackfrags says that “Super People could be a PUBG counterfeit that’s better than PUBG” (via YouTube)
• Oopz writes in one under this video comment: I can already see from watching that it looks a lot smoother than PUBG. The movement looks very good.
• MisterNegativity doesn’t live up to its name, write down reddit: “Super People will replace PUBG for me”
• Higi from the MeinMMO community writes: “I really enjoy it! Yes, the setting reminds you of PUBG, but I just don’t care. Everyone copies from everyone. ”

So Super People seems to be on the right track. The current player numbers and early reactions speak for themselves.
