Sport and Corona: This is how it is about the games of CE Timmendorf, MTV Lübeck and Co

The increasing corona numbers also have an impact on sports operations. The new state ordinance that came into force on Wednesday includes the 2G-plus rule for indoor sports, and indoor sports events with more than 50 and outdoor events with more than 100 participants are not permitted. But even if a game could be played according to the regulations, Corona throws some clubs through the bill. We give an overview of where the games are played on the weekend and which sports events fall victim to Corona.

Serve to the North Cup

Tennis is being played! The 21st North Cup, in which women and men in several age groups determine a winner, will take place from 13th to 16th January despite Corona. The upper limit of 50 people for indoor sports is complied with at the Nord Cup in the respective venues (Kaltenkirchen, Henstedt-Ulzburg, Alsterquelle tennis club), and the 2G-plus rule also applies. Players who have not been boosted must submit a daily negative test. Masks are required in the cabins and catacombs, and spectators are not permitted.

Beach Devils on hold

However, the 23rd Segeberg winter tournament had to be canceled – so it will not be fought on the weekend. The ice hockey players of the CE Timmendorf also have to be patient. His two games against ECW Sande (Friday) and at the Salzgitter Icefighters (Sunday) planned for the weekend were canceled because there are four confirmed corona cases in the Beach Devils team from the Baltic Sea. At the training session on Wednesday, coach Michael Pohl had just four field players and two goalkeepers available.

MTV and HSG compete

In handball, on the other hand, it is thrown. The away game of the Bundesliga A youth of MTV Lübeck at the JSG HLZ Ahlen on Sunday (3 p.m.) takes place. The MTV is also already revising its own hygiene concept for the home game against HC Empor Rostock (January 21, 8 p.m.), for which the club is now planning to attract 500 spectators. The third division handball players of the HSG Ostsee are also active, on Friday at the away game at the HG Hamburg Barmbek. In preparation for this as well as for the rest of the season, a short training camp was scheduled for the past weekend, but the HSG canceled it for safety reasons due to the pandemic.

State championships in table tennis canceled

“The fastest ball in the Sachsenwald”, as the table tennis players at TSV Schwarzenbek say, flies under 2G-plus conditions at the weekend. Against SVH Kassel (Saturday, 3:15 p.m.) the TSV let 35 spectators into the hall – just like a day later in the regional league women against Watenbüttel (3:00 p.m.). The downside, however, for all table tennis fans: The state championships for women and men in Stockelsdorf, which should be held on January 22nd and 23rd, have been canceled due to Corona.

Track and field athletes compete in Hamburg

The organizers of the indoor state championships in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, which take place on Saturday and Sunday under 2G-plus rules, were lucky. Because while the new Corona state ordinance in Schleswig-Holstein prohibits indoor sporting events with more than 50 participants, up to 199 people can be in the athletics hall (Krochmannstrasse 55) in Hamburg. Badminton Bundesliga team TSV Trittau, which is starting the second half of the season as planned, will not be slowed either. The Stormarner compete on Saturday (3 p.m.) at SG Schorndorf and on Sunday (2 p.m.) at TSV Neuhausen.

Take a break from volleyball

Volleyball in Schleswig-Holstein is paused for the time being from the association league downwards. On Wednesday, the regional association announced that only the first half of the season should be rated for adults, the youth game operation will be paused until February 6th. Training operations are not affected by the decision. The continuation of the regional league (the men of VSG Lübeck will receive Oststeinbeker SV on Saturday) will be decided separately, as the participating clubs come from Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
