WoW: In patch 9.2 you have to farm reputation – and many are angry again

Reputation farming will probably be mandatory again in Patch 9.2 of World of Warcraft – and that makes some players really angry.

Patch 9.2 End of Eternity is already under a bad star. Many players don’t like the story with Sylvanas and Zereth Mortis, the new area, seems too strange to really fit into the classic world of Warcraft. But there is also another reason for displeasure. If you want to wear more legendarys, you have to grind your reputation.

What is the problem? With patch 9.2, players can enjoy a small but nice feature. It will be possible to wear and use two legendary items from the Shadowlands category at the same time. This is only possible with selected effects that belong to a particular pact, but the gain in strength is obvious.

The problem, however, is: In order to unlock these “double Legendarys”, you first have to farm reputation in Zereth Mortis and achieve a respectful status with the “Cipher of the First”.

Respectful is the second highest reputation level in World of Warcraft and usually requires a certain amount of farm time. Anyone who wants to achieve a respectful status with a new faction must complete daily missions and side tasks for a few days in order to reach this reputation level.

Why are the players angry? Players are quite angry about this detail, at least in the comments on Reddit and Wowhead. This is mainly because Morgan Day from Blizzard stated in an interview in November that player power is not linked to progress in Zereth Mortis:

If you are a person who is only interested in raiding, then you can almost completely ignore this system.

This went hand in hand with the following meaning: if you only want to raid, you do not need to worry about Zereth Mortis and can only concentrate on raiding or mythical +.

This is how the community reacts: As expected, expresses negatively – at least the part of the players who express themselves in the comments on wowhead and on the subreddit. Many say cynically: “All right, we’ll see you again for the next expansion” or call this development very drastically “bullshit”.

So that’s a development that doesn’t go down well with many players.

With all this, however, keep in mind that it is currently still the PTR of Patch 9.2 End of Eternity. It is quite possible that Blizzard will make changes here and link the regulation of the double legendarys to other conditions.

At least: Currently it looks like the reputation only needs to be earned with a single character, because the activation then seems to apply to all characters on the account.

What do you think? A typical case of “Blizzard breaking its promise” or was it perfectly clear in advance that you have to farm at least a little reputation?
