An annoying bug returns to New World, killing player trading

Once again, trading between players had to be disabled in New World. This is due to an annoying bug that crept back into the game. We at MeinMMO summarize.

What happened in New World? Amazon’s MMORPG is plagued by bug after bug. Just the day before yesterday the server transfer was re-enabled for players after it had been switched off for a week due to an error.

Right after that, another problem returned to the game. Once again, there was probably a bug in the game that allowed players to create or clone gold out of thin air. It is currently not known whether the new gold dupe was related to the server transfer.

New World therefore decided to put player trading on hold again and not let you trade with other users until the cause of the gold duping was clear.

What is a gold dupe? It seemed like another gold dupe was possible in New World. This was the reason player trading was disabled. But it was only a display error, which is why Amazon gave the all-clear for a few hours.

A true gold dupe, however, actually creates gold out of thin air. Usually a bug in the game causes such problems to arise. For example, with the release of server transfers in New World, it was possible to send gold to other players without it being deducted from you.

This creates gold out of nowhere. This process is called gold dupe.

How long was player trading disabled? It’s not the first time this system has had to shut down due to gold dupe or other errors. The error is usually fixed within a few days and players can trade normally again.

Amazon was even quicker to respond this time, re-enabling player trading after just a few hours. In the forum they write that the possible gold dupe was just a display error and player trading has therefore been reactivated.

They want to take care of the display error in one of the next updates. However, there would be no danger to the economy and therefore no reason to leave player trading disabled.

The community shook their heads with a smile

How are the fans reacting? New World players and the community around the game are used to bugs like this by now. So there is hardly any big outcry or people who are seriously angry or shocked by such bugs and actions.

Much more, a sarcastic undertone flows through the voices of the community. As if people would only smile and shake their heads when New World makes such a mistake again.

Many comments are therefore to be taken with humor and are cynical in nature. After all, this error did not cause any major damage.

What are the players saying? We don’t want to withhold some of these sarcastic and sometimes funny comments from you at this point (via reddit).

  • SimpletonRube writes on the news that the player trade is up again: “Seems like I have to call back the senator and withdraw my request for sanctions against Amazon for ruining my day.”
  • BlastedBartender is annoyed by the community and writes: “Where are all the people from the last few threads who have assured me that the gold dupe is real and people have been doing this for weeks? People now say anything just to badmouth New World.”
  • TaylorDestiny222 sees it rather positively: “I don’t want to say that the mistakes aren’t bad. But the fact that the whole thing was off the table in about 4 hours shows that the developers are really trying their best here.”
  • Very sarcastically, TheApocalypticOne responds to the news that trading is working again: “Oh man! Now I had already uninstalled the game!”

how do you see it? Are you angry that such errors are still in the game after months and relevant systems have to be shut down because of them? Or do you see the whole thing rather calmly and maybe even have to smile a little and shake your head? Write it to us in the comments here at MeinMMO.

Despite the many errors, New World is basically a good MMORPG and, for us, is one of the currently 15 best MMOs and MMORPGs of 2022.
