WoW: Warlock travels through Kalimdor in the most awkward way ever

Warlocks in World of Warcraft can be very lazy. One traveled throughout Kalimdor – but only with its own portals. That took a long time. Very long.

In World of Warcraft, various players have achieved all sorts of strange achievements or asked (and answered) questions that are not easily thought of. Can you level a neutral pandaren to level 60? Can you cover the whole continent with banquets? Now a warlock wanted to answer another question:

How many warlock portals does it take to travel the entire continent of Kalimdor?

What happened? The Void Elf Warlock “Cisbian”, known as “circesalami” in the WoW subreddit, apparently had a question that urgently needed an answer. How many times would you have to use the Warlock’s Demonic Gateway to get from the northernmost tip of Kalimdor to the southernmost tip of the continent?

What is Demonic Gate?
In a lot of World of Warcraft raid content, Demonic Gate is a very important spell. He creates two demonic portals that players can use to bridge a distance of up to 40 meters in a single second. This is faster than most movement abilities and helps many boss mechanics to avoid deadly areas. As a pure method of travel, the Demonic Gate is actually not suitable, because its use has a cooldown of 90 seconds.

What was the result? In the end, circesalami had made a journey of over 7 hours. This is mainly due to the fact that using the portal is subject to a cooldown. While he took all the bonuses with him, such as a PvP talent for increased portal range and a Legendary item from Legion to be able to use two portals in a row, the journey still took a long time. It took a whopping 570 portals from the Bloodmyst Isles to southern Uldum.

Did it all go without problems? No, every now and then circesalami had to “cheat” a little and at least reposition itself a little on the Z axis – i.e. the height. This is because the portal is weird in some places and it’s easy to get stuck in objects. Especially in Thousand Needles circesalami had problems because the portals interact strangely with water and the exact positioning is not so easy.

Have you already completed a similar, absurd challenge in World of Warcraft? What do you think? An interesting achievement or just a huge waste of time?
