Apple surpasses Samsung and Xiaomi and the iPhone becomes the best-selling smartphone

Apple has had the best-selling smartphone of the last quarter of 2021, beating other brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and more.

Apple’s iPhone has managed to become the best-selling smartphone of this year 2021. The device manufactured by the Cupertino company has managed to be crowned the best-selling mobile in the last quarter of 2021, as is usually quite usual, managing to outperform big competitors like Samsung and Xiaomi along the way. However, it seems that Apple has had to face big problems in the process.

This is what a new report from Canalys, the global technology analyst company, comments. In their latest report, they state that Apple has managed to take first place with its iPhone device in the fourth quarter of 2021, with 22% of total smartphone shipments globally. In second place we can find the South Korean firm, Samsung, who has managed to follow closely in the footsteps of Cupertino with a total of 20% of smartphone shipments worldwide.

It seems that iPhone supply shortages have gotten Samsung a little closer to the numbers released by Apple in the last quarter of 2021. We have known for several months that Apple cut the production of the iPhone 13 by 10 million units, and it is that the shortage of chips has not made it easy for any manufacturer.

Apple’s supply chain is beginning to recover, but it was still forced to cut production in the fourth quarter due to shortages of key components and was unable to make enough iPhones to meet demand. In priority markets, it maintained adequate delivery times, but in some markets its customers had to wait to get their hands on the latest iPhones.

Apple continues to grow rapidly in China

The iPhone has never been the device of choice for Chinese citizens, but it seems that this is getting closer to changing. In fact, the iPhone 13 has become one of the most popular in China, and it is that the discounts in the prices of these devices together with their quality have been seen with very good eyes by the users of the region.

According to comments from Canalys, Apple has had an unprecedented performance in China:

“Apple leads the smartphone market again after three quarters, buoyed by stellar performance from the iPhone 13,” said Canalys analyst Sanyam Chaurasia. “Apple saw unprecedented iPhone performance in mainland China, with aggressive pricing for its flagship devices keeping the value proposition strong.”

Since the end of the year 2021, Apple has announced that it will cut the production of iPad devices to focus on its iPhone 13, and it is that the production of the latter is too fair for the great demand it has. This translates into Longer wait times for users to see new iPhone 13 in stock, and thus the company ends up in a very vulnerable place where any slightly less popular competitor can start to eat away at it. We’ll see if the supply shortage manages to stabilize at some point in 2022. The price of the iPhone 14 seems to have leaked, and due to the shortage, we could see the most expensive iPhone in a long time.
