Update January 19, 8:25 am: Good morning to all. There will be a PS5 drop on Amazon this morning. The well-known Prime spoiler has appeared on the PS5 Disc Edition product page. This means that it will be around between 9 and 11 a.m.

We have a few general tips to make the ordering process easier for you. Because the rush is usually very high, which leads to errors on the part of the online shop.

  • You need an Amazon Prime membership. If you’re not a Prime customer, you simply can’t order the PS5. Even if it says “priority access” is meant by that “no prime no deal”. So you have to create an account in advance. You can test Amazon Prime for 30 days free of charge.
  • Store your preferred payment method in your account. This saves you valuable time in the ordering process. Because just because you have a console in your shopping cart does not reserve it for you.
  • The best way to get the PS5 is to add it to the shopping cart via the wish list. So put the following items on your wish list. From there you can also see the availability and place it directly in the shopping cart and place the order. Attempting to add items to the shopping cart via the product page often leads to technical errors on the part of Amazon.

Update January 18, 3:00 p.m.: According to social media, there are some really different PS5 bundles that can be pre-ordered. Which ones exist varies depending on the location. As already written, the console is sometimes offered with an additional DualSense controller (in Midnight Red) and, as with previous pre-order campaigns, sometimes with a warranty extension in some regions, sometimes without.

The industry magazine Gameswirtschaft also estimates that the fluctuating size of the contingents should be “on average 50 to 70 consoles per market”. (via Gameswirtschaft)

Update January 18, 10:43 am: In the meantime, there are several reports on social media from users who were actually able to pre-order a PS5 from Media Markt and Saturn. So it’s clear that the rumors were real. But it would probably be very advisable to hurry, since experience has shown that these console contingents are sold out very quickly.

Sign up for a PlayStation Direct purchase here. Don’t be put off by the fact that the website is only in English – you can still register with your German PSN ID. So far, no additional information was required for previous drops from PlayStation Direct, but a few lucky users were selected by Sony according to still unknown criteria and then informed by email.

Nevertheless, it should be mentioned that the chance of receiving an invitation to buy a factory outlet from Sony is unfortunately still quite small.

Update January 18, 8:34 am: Good morning dear PS5 hunters.
Tuesday begins with good news: Since yesterday evening, some indications have accumulated that another (offline) PS5 pre-order campaign will take place at Media Markt and Saturn today.

In all likelihood, the PS5 disc version will be offered including an additional DualSense controller in Cosmic Red and either FIFA 22 or Call of Duty: Vanguard.

The bundle is said to be €639.99 – €100.00 had to be paid in advance for the previous offline pre-order campaigns of the two retailers. The consoles should then be ready for collection from 5.2. being.

In the past, however, not all branches of the two sister companies automatically took part in these pre-order campaigns. So we’ll keep our fingers crossed for you if you try your luck at your local branch!

Update January 17, 3:47 pm: The whole day was pretty uneventful so far. However, this is not untypical for Mondays, as sales campaigns hardly ever take place there. But starting tomorrow, we’re finally reckoning with greater chances of a drop again. But of course we will always stay tuned for you!

Update January 17, 10:26 am: So far it has been quiet about the availability of the PS5. We can only refer again to Conrad’s on-site sales campaign, which we already reported on last week.

With luck, you can currently pre-order a bundle with a second DualSense controller and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for €699. However, pre-ordering by telephone is not possible; means that you have to go to one of the Conrad branches in person.

Update January 17, 8:50 am: By the way Amazon: Since Saturday there is a new one PS5-Bundle inkl. Horizon Forbidden West listed. The long-awaited game will only be released in a month on 02/18/22, but it’s still good to have it on the screen. Because of course the e-commerce giant also has listed third-party bundles; but this one looks a lot like an official bundle from Sony.
