LoL: YouTuber HandOfBlood founds his own e-sports team – we introduce you to the players

With Eintracht Spandau, a new team started in the Strauss Prime League in 2022. This league is something like the top division in League of Legends for teams from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The YouTuber HandOfBlood and his agency are behind the team. We would like to introduce you to the players from what is probably an interesting team in the league.

Why is Eintracht Spandau so interesting? The team from HandOfBlood and his agency INSTINCT3 causes a lot of hustle and bustle in the league. They stage themselves with press conferences, funny videos and a special fan culture.

When it was founded, HandOfBlood explained that they would focus on identifying with the club, which is common practice in football. But with modern e-sports teams, this is rather difficult because players and those responsible change very quickly. That is exactly what Eintracht Spandau wants to change.

The YouTuber also stated that he wants to play for the EU Masters in the long term. This is a special title, held between the best of any regional league, making it the best you can win outside of the LEC.

So that you can get to know the team better, we present the current line-up in more detail.

A mix of experienced players from different teams and leagues

Who plays at Eintracht Spandau?

  • Mahdi “Pride” Nasserzadeh – Toplaner
  • Patrick “Obsess” Engelmann – Jungle
  • Joran “Special” Scheffer – Midlane
  • Leander “Kynetic” Sydekum – Botlane
  • Olivier “Prime” Payet – Support
  • Yannick “Pandar” Greff – Replacement / Support
  • Christoph “nRated” Seitz – Head Coach

We will introduce you to the five main players of the roster in more detail. We reveal their background and their “signature champions”, which are presented on the official website of the Prime League (via Prime League).

Pride at his performance

Who is Pride? Pride was born on March 13, 1998 in Switzerland. He started his career in December 2015 with Team Dead Pixels, later renamed imProve and then acquired by Lausanne-Sport eSports.

In early 2020, Pride then moved to Fnatic Rising, Fnatic’s second team. The NLC is virtually the counterpart to the Prime League of the Nordic countries Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Denmark and Great Britain:

  • The team won the league in the Summer Playoffs and qualified for the European Masters, the tournament HandOfBlood hopes to win. In the end, however, they only managed places 9-11.
  • In the 2021 Spring Playoffs, Pride finished second with his team but missed the leap to the European Masters.
  • In the summer of 2021, Fnatic Rising took second place again, but this time qualified for the main event of the European Masters. There they took second place and pocketed at least 25,000 euros in prize money. Incidentally, first place went to Karmine Corp, the team that star player Rekkles joined this year.

His signature champions are: Ganplank, Gnar, and Ornn.

Obsess LoL at Eintracht Spandau
Obsess (left) at his presentation as the new top planner at Eintracht Spandau (via YouTube).

Who is Obsess? Obsess was born on August 23, 1997 in Germany and, at the age of 24, is more of an “old iron” in LoL.

He started his career in 2017 with the Movistar Riders team in Spain. There he played in the LVP, something like the ESL in Spain. There they finished 4th and in 2018 he reached 7th place with the new team Penguins in the same league.

He was a substitute with Misfits in the 2018 Summer Split and later played on the Misfits Academy Team. It competes in the LFL, the French equivalent of the Prime League. The team finished second in the Spring Playoffs, but Obsess wasn’t the team’s regular jungler.

In 2020 he played for mouseports in the Prime League:

  • There he reached 2nd place in the spring playoffs.
  • In the summer it was even enough for 1st place.
  • At the subsequent EU Masters, mousesports came in 3rd-4th and received 13,500 euros in prize money.

He then played for Schalke 04 Evolution in the Prime League in 2021. With the team, he finished 3rd in the Spring Playoffs and 9th-11th at the EU Masters. In the summer it was only enough for 10th place in the Prime League.

His signature champions are: Jarvan IV, Sejuani, and Olaf.

Special played for Excel in the LEC in the summer of 2020.

Who is special? Special was born on January 27, 1998 in the Netherlands. The midlaner made his first steps with Team Giants, where he played in the Spanish LVP from April to October 2016. There, however, he only achieves place 5-6 out of 6.

He played the Spring Split 2017 at KIYF eSports, where he reached 1st place and qualified for the then EUCS, the league directly below the LEC. From June 2017 to November 2017 he was the backup midlaner for Fnatic and then moved to Misfits where he served on the Academy team and also as a backup for the main team.

With Misfits Academy, he won the ESL Spring Premiership 2018 and competed in the EU Masters, where he only finished 9th-12th.

From November 2018 to November 2020 he was part of Excel and the Academy team BT Excel:

  • With the Academy team, he finished 2nd in the 2019 Summer Playoffs of the then UKLC (now part of the NLC) and then finished 5th-8th at the EU Masters.
  • In the Spring Playoffs 2020 they even reached 1st place in the UKLC and then again 5th-8th place in the EU Masters.
  • Special even played the Summer Split 2020 with the main team from Excel and thus in the LEC. The team finished 7th there.

He spent the 2021 season with two teams in the French LFL, but only finished 9th in the spring and 10th in the summer.

His signature champions are: Syndra, Orianna, and LeBlanc.

Kynetic at the presentation at Schalke. There he played for the Evolution Team.

Who is Kynetic? We have not found any information on the age of Kynetic. However, the German player started his career with Team Riverside in April 2018. There he took part in the MLP tournament, a German offline event. His team achieved second place and thus 900 euros in prize money.

He then switched to SPGeSports, a Swiss team. After only 3 months he joined BloodRain, a German organization that took part in various ESL tournaments. In 2019 it went to the Aequilibritas E-Sports team, a direct competitor in the ESL.

At the end of 2019 and in the Summer Split 2020, Kynetic played for Flayn eSports in the second division of the Prime League and reached rank 2 there.

Most recently, he was active with Obsess at Schalke Evolution from the end of 2020 to the end of 2021 and won the same places as him.

Prime LoL at Mad Lions

Who is Prime? Frenchman Prime was born on February 24, 2000 and is one of the youngest players on the team. Nevertheless, he started in April 2015 for the PunchLine Esports team in several small tournaments.

From January to March 2016 and again from June to August 2016, he played for against All authority, one of the most famous French LoL teams that took second place in the first LoL World Championship in 2011. However, Prime played in the EU Challengers, the league just below the LEC at the time.

After brief trips to Melty eSport and ASUS ROG Army, he joined Splyce’s second team in January 2019. There he won first place in the Spanish LVP and qualified for the EU Masters in the spring. There it was enough for place 5-8.

The team was then renamed MAD Lions and continued to play in the LVP for the first time in 2020. There, Prime finished 3-4 in the 2020 Spring Playoffs but failed to qualify for the EU Masters. After the main Splyce team was renamed MAD Lions, the previous MAD Lions got the new nickname “Madrid” and became the Academy team.

In 2021, Prime then played for Team GameWard in the French LFL. There, however, he only reached places 5 in spring and 7 in summer.

His signature champions are: Thresh, Nautilus, and Leona.
