New World Server Down: Character creation issues result in maintenance

The New World is currently undergoing maintenance. The servers are therefore down for a few hours. However, this maintenance does not apply a new patch, but fixes an issue with character creation.

What is this maintenance? On Wednesday night, community manager Luxendra announced that character creation would be disabled in all regions and on all servers.

Greetings adventurers,

We are now pausing character creation on all servers/regions. We will provide more information as it becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

However, Luxendra did not give an exact reason for the deactivation.

This morning at 8:00 a.m. German time, the servers were shut down for maintenance work.

How long is the server down? The maintenance is expected to last three hours. Around 11:00 a.m. the servers should be back online and character creation should be possible again.

What about the next patch? As a rule, new updates in New World appear on a Wednesday or Thursday. However, the new patch 1.2.3 will not be installed during the current maintenance work. However, it is possible that there will be maintenance work tomorrow and then a new patch.

The next big update 1.3, which is expected for next week, is also in the starting blocks. This then brings the dungeon mutators and some other changes:
