Samsung confirms an Unpacked 2022, which means the Galaxy S22 is official

We are a few weeks away from Samsung finally presenting its new family of high-end smartphones. And so they have let us know from the Korean company by announcing a new Samsung Unpacked.

We can finally say that Samsung will officially hold its next Unpacked event in February to introduce what we hope to be the new Galaxy S22 phones.

The expectation before this release is motivated by two reasons. The first is that many sources claim that, for the first time, Samsung is merging its Galaxy Note and Galaxy S families to give rise to a single top-of-the-range mobile with compatibility with the S-Pen.

And the second thing that makes people expectant is the supposed Exynos 2200, the processor created by Samsung and AMD, which we should see this year bringing the Galaxy S22 to life, if everything goes as planned.

Dr. TM Roh, President and CEO of Samsung Mobile Communications, has said this about it: “At Unpacked in February, we’ll introduce you to the most remarkable S-series device we’ve ever created. The new generation of Galaxy S is here, bringing together the best experiences of our Samsung Galaxy in one definitive device.“.

These statements are undoubtedly a hint that the rumors are correct, at least in that the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S families are going to merge into a single device. Although experts believe that this union will only be seen in the Galaxy S22 Pro.

Thanks to leaked renders, we have already seen that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will include a slot to store the S-Pen just like the Note series, which makes him a kind of spiritual successor.

Furthermore, it is said that he will have a curved screen similar to that of the Galaxy Note 20, a 5,000 mAh battery and a quad-camera setup which consists of a 108 Mpx main camera along with a 12 Mpx wide angle and a 10 Mpx telephoto lens.

The entire family (Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Pro) is expected to carry the new Exynos 2200 SoC from Samsung which, interestingly enough, suffered an unforeseen delay in its own launch last week.

But nevertheless, this SoC is likely not to be used in the US or India, since in both regions it is usual for Samsung to opt for the Qualcomm solution, in this case the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

In terms of design, it is believed that the standard Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ will keep the design of last year, as seen in leaked renders.

Samsung is specifically touting the cameras’ prowess in nighttime environments, saying these phones will take “the best and brightest photos and videos you’ve ever captured on a phone.”
