Movistar+ has changed its name and image: this is all customers need to know

Movistar+ has stopped being called Movistar+. A curious name change for which at the moment we do not have an official explanation, although we can perfectly intuit why they have done it.

Movistar+ changes its name to Movistar Plus+, although at the moment the company has not explained the specific reasons. But some can be guessed.

Too channel names change, which were previously called Movistar Acción, Movistar Comedia, etc., and are now called Action by M+, Comedy by M+, etc.

As we say Movistar Plus+ has not explained the change, but we intuit that there are several causes.

First of all, It is a way of differentiating itself from the Movistar operator, that stays as it is, while the television platform is Movistar Plus+. The channels are no longer called Movistar, but their real name with the tagline “por M+”. The word Movistar, simply, is disassociated from television.

This avoids confusion between the telephone company and the television company.

On the other hand, in the URL address of the websites you cannot put the symbol +, its website is called vermovistarplus.es. So it makes sense for the platform to adopt the letters Plus.

What we are not so clear about is why they have opted for the Plus-Plus… Perhaps so that people associate the + symbol with the same category as Disney+ or Apple TV+.

In any case, for customers it is just an aesthetic, name and marketing change. At the level of content, offers and prices, Movistar Plus + does not change anything at all.
