You should buy strong armor in New World right now

The new patch 1.3 is expected to appear in New World this week. He will make an important change to the equipment. Because if you want to buy good equipment from the trading post, you will no longer get the full strength count in the future.

What exactly is happening with the new patch? Update 1.3 will increase the maximum gear level from 600 to 625. At the same time, there are adjustments to the competency system:

• You can and must increase your competence to 600 in the future in order to increase your equipment to 625 with shadow shards from then on.
• Shadow Shards are available through the new Dungeon Mutators and also through the Gypsum system.
• At the same time, a change will be released that will align your armor rating with your proficiency and sometimes scale it down.

It is precisely this last change that will cause a lot of confusion at first. Because if you buy an item with an armor value of 600 and only have a skill of 500 yourself, the equipment will be scaled down to the mean value, in this case 550. However, the higher your skill, the less strong the scaling will be. The armor levels with you.

However, this change with the mean will only affect gear purchased after the new patch. So anyone who stocks up on new equipment before the patch or crafts the equipment themselves after the patch is not affected by the scaling.

When is the patch coming out? That’s not quite clear yet. However, the update is referred to as a “big January patch”, which is why it should appear in January.

The winter event ends on January 25th. That would be a possible indication of a release date. Updates usually appear on Wednesday or Thursday mornings. January 27 is considered by many to be the “last date” for the patch to appear.

Stock up on new equipment until the start – is it worth it?

Is it worth buying new gear? Yes, because a lot depends on how you are currently doing in New World. Because sooner or later you will have to level up your competence anyway in order to be able to play the new mutators and raise your equipment to 625. This is only possible if you have a competence of 600.

• For example, if you have an average competency of 560+, you will probably catch up fast enough to hardly notice the difference.
• However, if you still have a competency of around 500 in many places, the process will take quite a while.
• If you also have a few thalers left, the purchase is definitely worthwhile, since you don’t fall behind the other players so much, especially in dungeons and in PvP content.

What should I buy? As in other MMORPGs, the chest and legs give the most armor. This is where an upgrade is most worthwhile.

Also important are the two main weapons that you use in combat, since your damage depends significantly on them.

Here are a few general tips:

• When buying, make sure that the basic attributes and especially the perks match your play style. In the end, the setup value is not the only decisive factor.
• One of the strongest armors in the game is the Voidbent Armor. You can also buy it in the trading post, but it costs between 10,000 and 20,000 thalers per part and is therefore not cheap.
• Purple equipment with an armor value of 590+ is often lucrative. Although they have one less perk than legendary equipment, they cost significantly less. In addition, you will later be able to improve them beyond the armor value of 600 with shadow shards.
