Don’t buy the wrong Dying Light 2: what co-op players should be aware of

Dying Light 2: Stay Human will have a co-op mode at launch. But it has some limitations, the hardest of which concerns the German version in particular. You can find out what you should consider when buying here on MeinMMO.

What does Dying Light 2’s co-op feature? First off, Dying Light 2 is very story driven, so the focus is on the single player experience. Accordingly, the co-op mode is relatively limited.

  • Co-op mode is available immediately with the release on February 4th.
  • You unlock it after the prologue.
  • You can gamble with up to four players together.
  • You can complete all missions together.
  • However, the progress is not shared.
  • After all, the guest player may keep his collected loot.

It is currently not known whether there will be adjustments to the level of difficulty. There are also a few other things to consider.

Because here in Germany in the worst case it can happen that you can’t play with the people you want.

Dying Light 2 Koop – Cut or Uncut decides, no crossplay (yet).

What does that mean? Dying Light 2 will only appear in a cut version in Germany. There are some differences here compared to the rest of the world, which gets the uncut version.

Due to legal reasons, players of the cut version cannot play together with others who have bought the uncut version.

So if you have friends from Switzerland, Austria or any other part of the world who you really want to play co-op with, you should consider which version you buy.

How do I get an uncut version? Depending on which platform you are on, there are a few options:

  • If you have a console with a disc drive, you can simply order a copy from Switzerland, Austria or any other country.
  • If you don’t have a drive, you have to change the region of your console and buy Dying Light in the respective store.
  • On PC you just have to make sure you buy a key for an uncut version.

This is what happens when you buy the uncut version: Basically there shouldn’t be any problems. You can’t buy the game in this country in the corresponding version.

There is according to developers no “region lock”, i.e. an automatic switch to cut content if you play in Germany. So if you buy Dying Light 2 uncut in another country, it won’t suddenly switch to the German version if you activate the game on Steam, for example.

Updates are also scheduled to appear for the appropriate version you own, regardless of which country you are in.

How about crossplay? At the start there is no crossplay feature in Dying Light 2. However, Techland has stated that it can deliver it later.

However, it is not clear when this will happen and how extensive crossplay will be.

When will Dying Light 2 be released? The release of the new horror survival shooter is now scheduled for February 4th after several postponements. Dying Light 2 is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

The crossplay that could follow after the release should at least benefit developer Techland’s plans. They want to provide Dying Light 2 with content by 2027.
