Google Chrome would bring back one of its best features

If you miss the ability to quickly mute tabs from the navigation bar in Google Chrome, you’re in luck, because Google has allowed this feature again.

The updates of both programs and applications usually bring new features and, logically, improve the existing ones. Of course, sometimes something really strange happens and that is the fact of removing existing features.

Yes, it may seem like something that happens by mistake, but in reality, many times companies believe that certain functions are not necessary for users or that a different approach is what they need to make them work better.

The perfect example is what happened to Google Chrome some time ago. The browser had a very practical feature that many users loved: mute any tab with a simple click.

And, it is that, the tabs of Google Chrome had an icon that indicated that they were responsible for emitting sound. To stop this sound reproduction, all you had to do was click on this icon and it would be silenced.

Those of Google believed that with the integration of a menu dedicated to checking the elements in reproduction, this functionality would no longer be necessary.. The error was serious to a certain extent and, it is that, speed was lost when it came to silencing tabs.

The good news is that it seems that Google has decided to go back and implement this feature in the browser again. Of course, it is not yet officially available and to activate it you have to enter the options menu.

The way to activate this feature is by entering the experimental settings menu. To access this menu, just type this line in the search bar: chrome://flags/#enable-tab-audio-muting.

After writing this, a menu will appear in which what we have to do is activate the option called Tab audio muting control UI and restart Google Chrome so that it is applied correctly.

Yes indeed, this option is not available in the stable version of Google Chrome and you have to use the beta version or also called Google Chrome Canary. This version can be downloaded from the official Google Chrome website.

We will have to wait to see if Google is encouraged to bring this feature back without having to enter the experimental functions menu. And, it is that, it did not make much sense that at the time they decided to eliminate this feature.

At the moment, the only thing that can be done is to pay attention to future updates of Google Chrome, in addition to being aware of whether they improve the multimedia menu that they integrated to supply the feature they removed.
