Once again, the world’s most popular smartwatch has been key to saving a man’s life after he fell into a sub-zero lake.

Upon detecting the fall, the man’s Apple Watch called emergency services through the Clayton County Emergency Communications Center. Help arrived within 12 minutes and although the man was “extremely cold to the touch due to the icy elements”. According to a report shared by the local media, the deputy chief of the Morrow City Fire Department, Jeff Moss, stated:

“Since an Apple Watch initiated the call, the location of the call could only be determined using the watch’s GPS, which reported the closest address. The Morrow Fire Department team arrived on scene with Morrow Police units. and quickly noticed that the physical address was not where the patient was located and began a perimeter search.”

Given the climatic conditions in this event, without a doubt the function of the Apple Watch and the rapid response of the emergency services has been the best pair that man has been able to count on.
