Arrested for stealing $42,000 worth of Apple devices

Robbery in an Apple store leads to the arrest of a 16-year-old teenager involved in the crime.

A teenager was arrested in Canberra, Australia for having stolen together with an accomplice a total of 60,000 dollars, of which more than 42,000 dollars were in Apple products.

Although devices displayed inside Apple stores are rendered useless if stolen because the company can disable all its functions remotely. A couple of thieves were not aware of this fact or did not see it as an obstacle to carry out a robbery that ended in the arrest of one of them.

After security personnel at a shopping center in Australia were alerted to a break-in by a pair of men at 4 a.m., the thieves fled due to the alarm, but dropped a bag full of Apple products with a stimulated $42,000.

The Australian police began an investigation that led to the arrest of one of the criminals who turned out to be a young man only 16 years old. The identification of the adolescent responsible for the robbery was obtained thanks to the CCTV images of the place where the robbery occurred.

Police allege that at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, the 16-year-old boy and another man broke into the Canberra Center and entered the Apple Store a short time later.

According to a local media, the teenager has already been accused of two aggravated robberies, robbery and damage to property, for which after his arrest had to be introduced before the ACT Juvenile Magistrates Court.

Devices listed on the App Store may stop working if stolen.
